I see a lot of people on here saying no to bringing Sheed back,  but what if he really does want to come back,  what if he wants another shot at the Lakers, and what if he really wants to go to a team with a shot at the championship,  and the Celtics say NO like many are suggesting.  If that was to happen what would the next team he would be calling,  can you say Miami.  Miami could use his size especially to counter C's size come playoff time.  Just a thought before you say no.

Yeah this is mentioned in one of the articles linked to Sheeds possible return. The author mentions that the Celtics signing him is worth it just so that he doesn't go to Miami or San Antonio.

I'm 100% on board with signing him, assuming he shows he's in reasonable* basketball condition, which I would bet he is, or will be by March. Sheed was great for us in the playoffs last year and defends Dwight as well as anyone not named Perkins.

Maybe Danny makes a big trade and packages BBD and Nate for something big. Then we sign Sheed and have a big man rotation of KG, JO, SHaq, Perk, Sheed.

While I like the idea of bringing Sheed back on board I don't think packaging BBD would be the best thing to do. Baby is our only mobile big with quick feet behind KG....it just seems to me like Miami for instance would outwork and out hustle our veteran bigs up the floor. As the saying goes in the playoffs everything slows down well I don't think that's going to be the case w/ this Miami team.

Bringing Sheed back is a good idea. He wouldn't be playing the same role as he was last year, and he has until March-April to get into good shape for the playoffs. Bring him in in February, have him working out with the team, playing as our 4th or 5th big man off the bench (behind Shaq/Perk, Big Baby, and maybe JO), and see what he can do. Jermaine O'Neal's body isn't going to make it through the playoffs, Semih Erden & Luke Harangody aren't ready for playoff action, and you never know about Shaq or if Perk can come back and be the man he was before. Bringing in Sheed as an insurance policy vs. being the 1st big man off the bench like he was last season is a win-win for us in that we have a little extra QUALITY depth, and another team doesn't pick up his services.

What would you place the likelihood of JO, Shaq and Perk being healthy throughout the playoffs?  10%?

I think the depth he would provide is essential and I think having him for the last couple of months of the season increases the chance that our current hobbled cadre of bigs will have some leg left in June.

If signing Sheed means 1 playoff victory not otherwise achieved, then it's worth it.  I'm not favoring trading BBD unless we somehow get a mobile defender/rebounder who can at least make Lebron/Kobe work a little.  I do worry about losing Baby's offense (despite recent performances) and his large, yet agile body. As previously stated, we have a bit of a dearth of mobile bigs other than KG.

Of course you sign him...he already knows the celtics system & the players ways and needs....he may be in a better state than last year..no knee or back pain.....and he may feel the need to playu...BBall is an addiction..!  You won't find a better guy at his postion..but if there is...better get him fast, we need some inside game and rebounding. And length on O and especially D.....he can guard turgolu better than bbd...and then we can beat down LA and Miami with experienced height.......and we can absobe some fouls..so we can play as dirty and rough ...the way everyone else plays US and gets away with it.....! Ditch bradley to the lower league...doc won't ever play that kid anymore this year anyway..so why waste the spot...!

I think Sheed just signed with Boston, he knows the team, the players ... I do not see Sheed playing for another team.

This is the only way I see us signing Sheed - if we make some trade that changes our frontcourt rotation.  Right now, all we need is for our bigs to get healthy by playoff time.  We'll have more depth than we know what to do with once they're all healthy.

If we trade away Baby, Jermaine, or Perk, then we'll have use for Sheed.  Of course, if one of them suffers a season-ending injury, that might also be a reason to pick up Sheed.

Remember, shaq always fouls out in 2 quarters..usually not that he commits them..so expect it to be worse in the playoffs for us..We'll need the extra bigs to absorb this. Look at what happened when we played chicago....rose himself caused all of our bigs to be in foul trouble.think the refs are going to change....get better....?

That's a valid concern, in my opinion.  To be honest, I don't really think we need him, and unless we do something major, we don't have a roster spot (it's been mentioned countless times, but you can't just send a youngster to Maine and free up space).  But, seeing 'Sheed playing for the Miami Heat would be unbearable.

Sheed can guard Turk better than BBD?? uhhhh... the thought of Sheed trying to guard Turk out on the perimeter is laughable. If we get Sheed, it's to guard Dwight, not small forwards.

I'm pretty sure that Waltah McCarty and Antoine want to come back, too...

I honestly think JO's career is getting close to over. He can't play more than 4-5 games without his knee blowing up. The way things are looking, they may need Rasheed.

I'd like to have Sheed back.

Look at tonight for example: No KG and no JO. Semi hasn't played much recently. BBD is much more effective as a 6th man setting screens, rebounding, and other stuff for limited minutes. Would sure like to have him tonight...

When it comes to the playoffs, is Luke and/or Semi realistically going to help us? One or both of them could be traded to open up a slot. The goal is banner #18 this year.
