I haven't read the thread, but don't care AT ALL about building for the future. I only care about raising another banner now.

I will still watch the team if they are horrible in 4 years. Just give me another banner now.

for anyone that has any doubts about how much of Rondo's success is due to the big 3, just look at how poor our team is with Nate running the point instead of Rondo. Did the big 3 make Nate look like a superstar while Rondo was out? Not even close, I was banging my head against the wall watching Nate run the point and couldn't wait for Rondo to come back. Also, look at how well our bench performs when Rondo is out there with them. Rondo is one of, if not the best floor leader in the game today and we are lucky to be able to build a team around him. In the playoffs against the cavs last year he totally outplayed Lebron the whole series.
Really hard to say anything negative about the guy tonight after that performance, however that's not what the point is. The guy is a stud however his shooting is subpar at best. There has been only one example of building a championship team around a PG and that was Isaiah, and he was a complete all around Hall of Fame PG. ONE! No one questions his ability to be a great piece of a championship puzzle. Just not the person to build "around".

First of all, Magic Johnson might disagree with you. Secondly, one could argue that title contending teams have had point guards as their best players. Thirdly, exactly what is plan B? Suck for years until we win the lottery when there's a franchise player in the draft, or wait for a top 3 player to join the team as a free agent? Do we bring back ML or Pitino to oversee the operation?

Stick any starting PG in the league out there with the Big Three and their stats will jump huge. Yes their assists won't be as high, but if they are a scorer they'd be lighting it up as teams doubled off them.

If they're scorers they won't be doubled off all the time, and they'll probably take fewer shots playing for the Celts. PP/KG/RA all saw big drops in their stats when they joined forces, I don't see why it would be that different for point guards. Would Derrick Rose still take 20 shots a game?

That was a special game by Rondo. He needs to keep taking those shots. He keeps taking those and I'll start to feel better, even if he is missing them. It seems like Doc and Ray and other think he needs to be more aggressive with that shot from the quotes I've read from them today. I'm not the only one!!

And it does feel like Rondo read this thread before the game, good stuff Rondo!!

Now if KG will just read the thread about shooting more  ;D

Those shots were nice, but even if he hadn't taken them it would still have been a special game that he dominated.

True but it would have been a special game that we probably would have lost

Or, he could have gotten a few more assists. The shots were fine, but if we hadn't needed them he wouldn't have taken them and it still would have been a great game.

yeah exactly, when they give him that shot he's got to take it in that situation
