I've seen an Iggy-to-Celtics idea floated here before, and it resulted in some really dumb criticisms, including to not bring in a star-level player unless there's a starting gig open for him or he'll just be p---ed and leave. This from the same sort that consider the all-business, team-first veteran character of the team as having some influence. There are 96 minutes at the SG/SF spots, and a Ray/Paul/Iggy rotation would match up well with any group from any team. Iggy is in his prime, and will be for the balance of his contract, which runs along with Paul's.
I'd love to see Iggy in Boston, and would be willing to part with pretty much any of our collection of role-players and/or draft picks to get him. That includes trading the non-guaranteed, immediate-salary relief contracts of Wafer and West, the injured/not available/not reliable at any time/consequently useless Jermaine O'Neal, perpetual role-player BBD, and honestly I'd even trade Perk. I'd offer Nate before Perk, but Perk is who they'd want, and I'd let him go.
So I think a deal around Perk, BBD, JO (plus cash), Wafer and West (immediately waived), plus two first rounders is, frankly, not giving up much for an all-star talent in his prime.
Filling out the reserve big spots would be important. Since we'd basically need a rebounder/shot blocker that is mobile enough to defend the S/R and contest mid-range jumpers, I'd look for a guy like Dwayne Jones right away, then wait for buyouts.
I'd look to resign West to another minimum deal (if he's included) after he gets cut.
I'd return Smokey Q to his proper 4th wing/injury replacement role, though including him in the deal instead of BBD would be better.
Philly should be looking for cap relief and draft picks, and needs to fill a hole at the center spot. We can at least make an offer.
Being thin up front would be a problem, but would be managed by signing big hustle guys, as that's all we'd really need.
