any ideas on bringing AI to boston?

76ers forward Andre Iguodala doesn't expect to be in Philadelphia much longer.

"I would love to stay in Philadelphia, but if I'm playing somewhere else, I definitely understand how that could happen. I know how the business works," Iguodala told FanHouse.

"You have to be prepared for anything in this league. And I am. It's one of the first things you learn when you get here. Guys get traded on draft night."

Only way to bring AI to Boston would be including Allen in a trade. We wont wanna do that, and the Sixers wouldnt take him... Other than that we have nothing to offer for a player like AI. After the big three era its an intriguing idea, but now, no way.

Our package would be along the lines of Baby, Robinson, and West plus picks for Iggy... Not only would it completely take our bench away, but the Sixers would reject it in a heartbeat...

I hope he goes to the Knicks personally, if they cant get Melo. I think Amare and AI would run a nice break together.

Guys , Iggy's a decent player and certainly would fill the need we have for an athletic 2 or 3 but.... I live in the Philly area and most Sixer fans would be happy to see him go.

His outside shooting is weak . He's being paid as a number one player and he's not worth the money. He's a better Tony Allen with a big contract.

He'd be a great 3 rd or 4 th player on the C's but not at the cost of the players we'd have to give up or the contract.

I've seen an Iggy-to-Celtics idea floated here before, and it resulted in some really dumb criticisms, including to not bring in a star-level player unless there's a starting gig open for him or he'll just be p---ed and leave.  This from the same sort that consider the all-business, team-first veteran character of the team as having some influence.  There are 96 minutes at the SG/SF spots, and a Ray/Paul/Iggy rotation would match up well with any group from any team.  Iggy is in his prime, and will be for the balance of his contract, which runs along with Paul's.

I'd love to see Iggy in Boston, and would be willing to part with pretty much any of our collection of role-players and/or draft picks to get him.  That includes trading the non-guaranteed, immediate-salary relief contracts of Wafer and West, the injured/not available/not reliable at any time/consequently useless Jermaine O'Neal, perpetual role-player BBD, and honestly I'd even trade Perk.  I'd offer Nate before Perk, but Perk is who they'd want, and I'd let him go.

So I think a deal around Perk, BBD, JO (plus cash), Wafer and West (immediately waived), plus two first rounders is, frankly, not giving up much for an all-star talent in his prime.

Filling out the reserve big spots would be important.  Since we'd basically need a rebounder/shot blocker that is mobile enough to defend the S/R and contest mid-range jumpers, I'd look for a guy like Dwayne Jones right away, then wait for buyouts.

I'd look to resign West to another minimum deal (if he's included) after he gets cut.

I'd return Smokey Q to his proper 4th wing/injury replacement role, though including him in the deal instead of BBD would be better.

Philly should be looking for cap relief and draft picks, and needs to fill a hole at the center spot.  We can at least make an offer.

Being thin up front would be a problem, but would be managed by signing big hustle guys, as that's all we'd really need.

Aren't you relieved Celtics didn't trade Ray for Andre last season.  :)

First of all, he is not a great player. Second (most crucial), it would take a fortune to get him. Last but not least, this system doesn't accentuate his strengths. For Andre to succeed, he'll need an uptempo system that hides his flaws.

I heard the Warriors might look to acquire him.

Solid trade for the Knicks and the Nuggets. Pretty great for Philly too. They'll never do it..it makes too much sense.

Agreed. Denver gets so reasonably good talent here, but doesn't get the financial relief their likely to want once Carmello leaves. They'd need to find a taker for a vet or two before the deadline, which they should be able to do.

I think something like that does make a ton of sense, and there are a lot of different ways they could work it out.  I don't think they would even have to take on Brand to make it work.  I think Philly would love the swap of Iggy for Gallinari, since it saves them cash, and gets them an up and coming player who fits in much better with their core than Iggy does.

I'm actually think if they Iggy for Melo, they might run with it.  While Melo is a better player, Iggy still makes that team very hard to beat.

James Harden, Mo peterson, and a Pick for Iguodala.

Westbrook
Iggy
Durant
Green
Ibaka

or small ball:

Westbrook
Thabo
Iggy
Durant
Ibaka

Iggy played great alongside Durant and Westbrook this summer; he's instantly a #3 guy on that team instead of a #1, and Green has range, Durant has serious range; Iggy and westbrook are the slashers with Ibaka/Collison/Krstic hitting their 15 footers or so.

TP. The parts make sense, but if I'm the Knicks there's no way I'm giving up all these pieces. Not b/c I think its unfair, but b/c I think it makes more sense for them to take a "gamble" and wait for the summer to try to resign him, use the pieces to acquire a player.
