slowly fitting the stereotype of the European basketball player.

And what stereotype is that?

Soft

Funny, here in europe we make jokes about the soft, white american players.  ;)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

This guy is an abosulte waste of minutes. I havent seen someone pick up fouls at a rate that rivals Mikki Moore since...well, Mikki Moore.

Semih doesent jump, he has no offensive game to speak of, his defense is non existent, and he has less energy then the entire Celtics team in the 4th quarter last season.

This kid is 24? You would think he would make the most of his
minutes in the NBA but he just looks like he doesent care, doesent want to play hard, and is slowly fitting the stereotype of the European basketball player.

Sorry, had to rant, im sure Luke would have done better at the 5.

I feel your frustration, but let’s not go crazy.  Has Semih been stellar? No. Serviceable? Yes
productive? no haha

Well, the center is the most visible and difficult postiion on Defense, not many are naturally good in an instant. His offense is coming along, that requires confidence, and of course some passes into the post/paint. From what i have heard here, it seems you expect nothing from M Danials, as a 2nd string guy, but expect Erdin, to be Shaq in his first year. Some say, "whatever  MD does is good enough for a 2nd string...well, Erdin is a 2nd string, and still NEW to the NBA, and America, he is a ROOKIE...give him some space, heck you all gave bbd 2-3 years to be a decent player.....! As Center, you are like the hockey goalie, when everyone else fails, you are supposed to stop it. And your man too...!

Semih's shoulder is injured, a shoulder he needs surgery on. How does he gets blamed, he's the 4th center. Hey he ain't Patrick O'Bryant or Mikki Moore. I like him, he deserves more time. He isn't the worst player on the team.

exactly. Semih has some very good NBA skills. Don't judge him on his play with his shoulder injury. He's sucking it up and getting out there while Perk and Jermaine are out because we don't have another backup center.

Marquis Daniels has pulled a complete disappearing act in the last two games. Totally invisible. And Delonte is coming along, but still needs more game minutes. The bench has not been good, and while I understand the C's were not expecting to use Semih this early in his career, he does not have a clue on defense and that is really hurting this team. Today, The Raptors built their double-digit lead with Semih in the game. I feel badly for the guy, because honestly I don't think he is ready for the NBA.

Sign me up for the "people need to start pointing the finger at the people who are REALLY responsible for the last two losses bandwagon". The starters and 2-3 key reserves. Semih had 11 minutes in this game! Please people. He's a rookie! He's the 4th string center getting shoved into a few minutes a game due to injuries. He's NOT however the reason for our bad play. That's all on the main crew.

I'd like to see Harangody play some instead of Erdin. He's not soft and really tries. He didn't uselessly foul all the time either.

Sounds as if you are pinning the whole loss on one guy....ERDEN....MD is known to disappear, as is JO, that is why the other teams let them go so easily, TA's O might have been a + - but his D was always solid. The grass isn't always greener. Erden has a bad shoulder, which as a player you know how that limits you, and, as you know, he is still a rookie. It isn't as if Erden was the only C on the floor. Erden gets fouled a LOT, and no calls...When the TEAM loses, it is not one guys fault, especially a ROOKIE.....Maybe a coach......

I have to admit that I'm not extremely impressed with Semih at the moment, but I also think he's taking way too much share of the blame, (for this game especially).

I hate to say it, but the turnover by Ray was the biggest play of this game, and if any one guy were to get the pin, (even though it's a team loss), it would have to be Ray.

People want to play Luke at center?  He's below 6'8", and isn't exceptionally strong.  He'd get killed at center, no matter how much he hustles.

Semih isn't a great player, but relative to expectations, he's been fine.  He's not supposed to be a rotation player at this stage of his career, but he's been thrust into the role, and has played okay.

Also, keep in mind that the guy is playing with a shoulder that requires surgery.  It shocks me that anybody would doubt the guy's toughness or commitment, when he's playing in constant pain.

Here's an article talking about the injury, and how Doc thinks Semih defies the "soft" stereotype:

You are correct on that, Roy. I think, in frustration, we forget the injuries.
I think maybe we should just assume at this point that injuries are going to define this team from here on out.

I agree with mmbaby to an extent...I would like to see Luke Harangody get some minutes...not because I think Erden is useless, though.  Erden is injured and they are postponing surgery on his shoulder until after the season.  I may be alone, but I have seen good things from Erden.  He runs the floor, he actually can shoot free throws, he rebounds, and he does all of this in Doc's system while learning to speak English....and while playing through injury because he is the only big man left after Shaq.  I would rather see Glen Davis play forward, but he has played Center a lot, so let him share minutes with Shaq and Erden and give KG/Luke/Davis some back up minutes at power forward position.  Davis will still get his minutes, Erden will get some, but less minutes, and we will see if Harangody will be able to provide any help.

I would love to see us bring up Magnum Rolle from the Red Claws. The guy is very athletic, has shown he can knock down jumpers, and has a very promising future ahead. He plays above the rim. We need some more athleticism on this team, and until Jermaine is back and we know is playing efficently, we should add Rolle to the roster as another inside presence.

Indy, who drafted him in the second round by trading up and getting him from Oklahoma City, was even trying to find ways to keep him, but ultimately couldn't due to salary: http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/25/indiana-pacers-cut-magnum-rolle/

Right, and he played with a broken nose the other night...and again, as usual, no call...!
