KG should issue a public apology for talking trash to Charlie V.
I would apologize and just explain that he gets wired during the games. Everyone knows talking smack is common in professional sports if KG just admits he needs to calm it down a bit everyone will understand.

Is he apologizing for what CV claims he said, or what KG claims he said?  Obviously, it is a he said (KG) she said (CV) thing, but I am not sure what KG claims he said deserves an apology.

Pretty funny thanks.

You guys really dont get it eh?
How many times do you hear these players saying it is a buisness. If it is a buisness then act professionally. You try going into work tommorow and acting like KG does on the court and see what happens. He represnets the Celtics, the NBA and he is on television.
I really dont care what he does. I bet that his lame splitting hairs is what has given this story the life it has. Simply admitting he got to hyped up and was talking too much would have made it all go away.

You clearly don't get it. If someone beat you to a proposal in your job, would you hard foul them? No? Well, that is because trying to compare acceptable behavior on a job and acceptable behavior on a basketball court is moronic.

Meanwhile, I will say what I've said before: all of you demanding an apology should lead by example. Please apologize for all the times you've ever made fun of someone's appearance, all the times you may have used words tied to medical or mental conditions to insult anyone (like cripple, gimp, retard, lame, etc) , all the times you've been less than politically correct. Yes, did you know that lame is an insult tied to a medical condition? Go ahead and look it up, the original meaning is "crippled or physically disabled, esp. in the foot or leg so as to limp or walk with difficulty. "

Finally, I guess a 25 page thread for this wasn't enough, huh? We needed a few more to hear the same thing over and over.

You correctly make an argument for why folks would quickly accept an apology.  We are all 'guilty' of speaking insensitively, and often being unaware or even indifferent to our use of words and their impact.

I am pretty sure, though, if you were to use the words you refer to, and someone were to speak to you about how the words may have been offensive, you would likely follow that up with something like 'oops, sorry' didn't mean to offend.  Likewise, with a little bit of perhaps feigned sincerity, KG could have ended the issue quickly.

They're in the business of winning, and some players think trash talking is part of that. Charlie V is in the business of losing. It's not KG's fault if it hurts Charlie's feelings or something. If it helps KG win maybe he should be even more cruel next time.

I have a hard time believing that Charlie has never said or heard anything worse than that. I have heard and used all kinds of trash talk, and never felt bad about it for a minute. Charlie V should just go to that Geico therapist guy and talk about why the color yellow makes him sad or something

To me, this whole situation kinda illustrates one of my biggest qualms with today's society;  the concept of "fake outrage".  ::)

Ha! I was thinking about how we were having the same conversation, just days ago, in another forum.

KG does not need to apologize. From what i've been hearing, kg is not that type of guy to say something from what cv is accusing him of. Trash talk is part of the game and isn't something you really tweet about, CV needs to stop being a drama queen and use any trash talk given to him as motivation.

I get that a lot for some reason...

OTOH, if I'm discussing basketball stats or politics, it's a lot less interesting if everyone agrees with me.

I've refrained from commenting on this just out of the sheer absurdity of it all, but it's amazing the life this thing has taken on. Can you imagine if every comment made on the NBA playing surface in the midst of battle was tweeted and made public, and each person held accountable for it?!? Or if it was held up beside this KG thing and compared for content?!? It's all such craziness ... this stuff is part of sports, folks, and has been part of sports since sports began.

In the worst possible light, this was one grown man making fun of the way another grown man looks and doing it in a situation where really NO ONE else could hear the comment.  That's it.  The fuss being made over it is unbelievable.

Agree.

IF KG said it the way Charlie V says he did, it was man to man and any apology should be man to man.  However, Charlie V took it public and cried about it and this doesn't mean that KG should have to apologize publicly after the guy tried to throw him under the bus on Twitter.

IF KG didn't say it the way Charlie V says he did and Doc heard it the way KG said it happened then Charlie V is exactly what Ainge is implying he is.

I would respect Villanueva's outrage more if he had placed it in the context of concern about bullying.  Bullying IS a huge problem in society, and nowhere more than sports.  But as a personal thing?  That's pretty weak.

seriously this has gotten to such a ridiculous level its not even funny. Whoever made this thread, are u serious? First of all, you don't even know what exactly he said cus so far, kg has doc backin him up, while no one's backin up CV. So this thread is even more ridiculous if he said, 'your a cancer to your team'. Second, people seem to have no idea that there's all types of nasty trash talking that goes on in games, and even worse than this. This happens EVERY GAME. the only difference is normally guys don't go onto their twitter and moan about it. If Unbelievable. You cant try to apply the rules of etiquette  of your workplace, to the rules of etiquette in basketball. Or even most sports in general, unless were talkin golf. It doesnt work that way. It gets mean and nasty and this is an everyday thing. Seriously you people sound like you think the nba is a middleschool or something, 'KG needs to apologize', it's just absurd. These are grown edit men

What's aweful about this is that now any player can twitter about anything and be like a "he said I should wear a skirt. He's anti-women" or "he said I'm ugly and weak. He's materialistic and hates people with muscular dystrophy" or some stupid thing.  God I hope not.

Hey if whining gets you a tech now can they give Charlie V a fine or a post - game tech to be enforced in the next game?
