The reaction of most of you on this thread is baffling to me. I understand that most of you prefer West to Wafer on the court (same for me) and that you want the better player to also be the better man and the one to stay on the team.

But why were so many of you willing to dismiss Kennedy's report because it was leaked from a locker room source, but are willing to now accept the assertion that the team didn't want Wafer on the team at all, he has problems with numerous teammates, etc.?

Even if Wafer did taunt him or whatever, there is no excuse - NONE - for throwing a punch at a coworker. The escalation from words to violence is very disturbing to me.

Waive them both as far as I'm concerned.

It doesn't matter.  Teammates in all sports fight.

Fights happen.

Let's move on from that.

Wafer stinks on the court.  He plays no defense.  He has no outside shot right now.  He adds nothing to this team on the court of play.

Dump him as soon as West comes back or if there is a player out there right now that has proven then can play defense or shoot at an NBA level.

Would you say the same thing if Pierce and Rondo got in a scrap?

Yes it does. While I'm not in favor of fighting between players, I don't think it's at all the same thing as me going to work tomorrow and punching the guy in the next cubicle.

Yup. swallow the 150k and sign Lasme for the season. Its becoming obvious that they made a mistake keeping Wafer over Lasme. A quick change is better than letting Wafer poison team chemistry.

Only cowards punch men from behind.

Actually, I prefer to hit below the belt first, then punch a man in the back of the head.

First, you gotta scream like a woman and keep sobbing and sobbing until he turns away in disgust.  That's when it's time to kick some back!  And then, when he's lying on the ground, kick him in the ribs, step on his neck and run like hell.

That's how you win a fight.

(laughing) And in my opinion, that initial PR was clearly hitting delonte "below the belt"...

Yes. Obviously they wouldn't be waived because of their contracts, but it is very unprofessional, immature behavior that is unacceptable no matter who does it.

As I said, I always try to stand up for the underdog and the only information we have is that West sucker punched Von Wafer. Now whether it is true or not, we don't know. But it's all that's out there. We will probably never know.

I still haven't heard real evidence of Von Wafer being a problem player. The only questionable thing is why he changed teams every year or half year and speculation, only, about locker room problems or discontent.

But we do already have real evidence of West's problems, i.e., his arrests, suspensions, etc. I like him and before the season started, there were alot of people here putting him down and saying they didn't want him. I stood up for him then, as I do not believe that a mental illness is his fault and with medication, it can be controlled. I even attributed his problems in the past to his Bipolar and gave him the benefit of the doubt.

So when this incident came around, it shocked me as it shocked everyone here. I cannot just blow it off and say all guys fight. I would totally freak if any of our better players fought with each other. That just wouldn't be cool at all.

Anyway, that is why I automatically put the finger on West. Without perfect knowledge, none of us really know. But with the little knowledge I do have, it doesn't look good for West.

Von Wafer switched teams every year because he was a one-dimensional gunner who selfishly jacked up shot after shot ... and his teams didn't like him stealing away possession from their team's best players and refusing to play defense, rebound or pass the ball.

That changed in Houston when Von Wafer started to play mediocre to slightly above average defense. Still a trigger happy player but his average defense + the team's need for offense ... made that acceptable.

In time, Von Wafer should be capable of reproducing that Rockets form in Boston.

But you'd want them waived if the team could somehow void their contracts?

It might be unprofessional behavior but the one thing that the players/former players seem to agree on is that it happens all the time. Same with football.

What's stronger though? The story that we've heard, or the statements that it's one sided and must have come from Wafer's camp?
