TP, Andy.  I think you are at the crux of the matter.  I don't know, but I think the Celtics knew what they were getting into with both players...hence the non-guaranteed contracts.  I don't know what they will do.

I have seen what effect bullying has on someone with mental problems, so I am biased in hoping the Celtics can provide a net for Delonte, but...it is a business and they may decide he is not worth the aggravation.  As I stated before, I think Delonte can offer much more "on the court" than Wafer, and I think that may be the catalyst in all this...competition, fear and jealosy. (Completely a blind perception, though).

Right now Delonte is serving a suspension and Wafer is needed.  After that, I hope it comes down to who helps the team more.  My prejudice wants it to be Delonte.  I have seen nothing effort wise (defense?) from Wafer yet.

Fighting is bad.  It happens.  Get on with the season.

You mean Danny please waive DWest right? That would be the title of my thread.

waive the good player, keep the bad one who rats out teammates to rumor mongers?

i'd rather have a rehabbing de'sean butler over wafer. better yet, figure out a way to get corey brewer on the team -- he's not getting much run in minny.

Delonte was the cause of all this, not Von Wafer. Delonte is a loser if he sucker punched Von Wafer. I don't care if he's mentally ill or not. You can be mentally ill and still have enough class not to punch someone in the back.
Von Wafer needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. Look at Delonte's history.
I was glad to have Delonte at first but if he is this immature and emotional, and classless, he needs to be let go. He's just not worth it.

1.) Von Wafer is not an angel, there has long been stories of him being a locker room issue - in the NBA and in his brief stint overseas. In fact, that was supposedly the reason he was waived 4 months into his 2 year contract with Olympiacos Piraeus - his attitude.

2.) Yes, D. West has had issues - but I can't recall anything about him ever having a problem with a teammate. In fact quite the opposite (and don't bring up that ill-advised Gloria James rumor. That was just spin from the LBJ fangeeks to excuse his lackluster playoff effort). Danny and Wyc have often said how much they didn't want to trade him to begin with, but they had to to get Ray. Right after the gun issue, the majority Cavs team - LBJ included - we're very public in their support of Delonte. You don't do that for a teammate that's causing issues. The decision to trade him from Cleve was a financial one, not a lockerroom cancer aversion.

It seems like you're latching onto the first story that leaked from Alex Kennedy, which is your perogative, but Danny Ainge is come out and blatantly stated that a lot of that story was a lie and the person behind the story clearly has something against Delonte. And now with the Boston Globe story that's saying the Celts believe the story was leaked by Wafer's camp... This isn't just conspiracy-theory fodder, but something to really be concerned about.

Cut them both (if Wafer is guilty of instigating)!

Delonte is a PUNK!

Wafer,if guilty of instigating, because that's not how a team behaves.  If he's innocent, the Delonte should be DUN!

And you know all this how?

Know what, Thirsty Boots?

I still haven't heard what Von Wafer did that was so wrong in the past. It's all very vague stuff that I can't make any sense of. I'm standing up for the attackee in this fight rather than the attacker, like I always do. People are too quick to jump to conclusions when there is a fight that both fighters are guilty. It seems to me that the info we actually really do have makes Delonte look like a punk. Now maybe it is because of his Bipolar, but that doesn't excuse a cowardly sucker punch.
How do you know who was at fault and how this all came about?  Do you have personal knowledge that could help Danny and Doc get to the bottom of this?  Or are you trying to sway everyone's opinion based on one quote from someone you don't even know?  Seems to me that you are "sucker punching" Delonte.  I prefer to let people who are at least looking for the truth make the decisions, and they consider what is best for the  team.  Have you not read anything that came out after the original report?
Yeah, poor delonte, we still don't know who was at fault, he was totally justified in coming up behind wafer and cowardly hitting him in the back, you have to understand that being a punk is considered a hero to the nba thug nation now, we all know wafer's evil past in houston and know West has never had any issues and was suspended unjustly.

Lets see...6 posts....claims to have inside info about how the fight went down that hasen't been reported....hates delonte....

Some of the info we have does make Delonte look like a punk, but we also have information that the Celts feel the info must have come from the Wafer camp because it was one sided. So you hear there's a fight, and the only account that you've heard came from a friend of one of the participants. Do you feel that you have the whole unbiased story and can safely determine who was at fault? Because most people wouldn't.

I'm curious as to how you "know" there was a "cowardly sucker punch".

The only people who know the truth were in the locker room, and they aren't talking - even Wafer!

It seems to me that giving BOTH players the "benefit of the (substantial amount of) doubt" makes more sense than accepting the initial report from Alex Kennedy as gospel, despite Danny's response to it...

To those who are demonizing one player or the other, in terms of character, not basketball, I ask you:  Who are you?  Saints hanging out with angels?

I'm a jerk who approves of the idea of punching Von Wafer in the back of the head.

Wafer history:

LAL 2005-2006
LAC 2007
DEN 2008
POR 2008
HOU 2008-2009
Olympiacos 2009

Can't seem to stick on any team; I wonder why...

"During a workout with the Phoenix Suns, Wafer reportedly was frustrated by the physical play from Jan Jagla, and responded by laying an intentional elbow to Jagla's nose, then walked off the court and ended the workout at that point."

I wouldn't be surprised to see him gone when West comes back.  I just don't see Ainge willing to risk not having depth at the 2 spot if Ray or Paul sprains an ankle in the meantime (especially with Bradley's health being precarious).

And I just don't think Danny sees it as a big enough of a deal.  Wafer is a borderline player.  His "bad" attitude is not going sweep through the team like a virus over the next few weeks.

TP, Jon.  That is how I see it, too.  This team is too strong to be torn apart by this kind of thing.  After all, they have gotten through being called out by KG...this is small stuff compared to that; two bench players fighting...
