This game is a win/win for the C's. I'm rooting for the Spurs though.

Nice shot by Neal at the end of the quarter.

I think Popovich is making a mistake not force feeding Tiago Splitter minutes.

It'll help them in the short term during the regular season but I reckon they'll regret that decision come playoff time when they have to play against LA in a seven game series.

I'd like to see San Antonio make more of an effort to integrate him and get his confidence higher.

My word..I had no idea that Lebron put up 51 pts.....I wear Green-tinted glasses most of the time, admittedly, and it sometimes clouds my judgement - but I continue to be awed by This Celtics Defense....

If Lebron managed to score 51 pts on us, we'd still find a way to win. It's been proven. Rarely will one player beat Boston.

Kobe with 41 pts? Sure - just lock up everyone else.

Lebron with 41 (back in 07-08)? Paul matches him pt for pt.

I don't agree with everything that Lebron says or does, but this man is talented.

Too bad he can't solve Boston.

The presence of Andrew Bynum is keeping Tony Parker quiet.

He is a game changing interior defender. His size and length is intimidating for smaller players.

Very different performance from the Parker who lit the Spurs up for 23 points at Christmas.

Andrew Bynum sits down, Tony Parker gets a couple of buckets right at the rim.

Without Bynum, Parker is free to create high percentage shots in the paint for himself + create drive and dish/dump opportunities for his teammates. The absence of Bynum opens up Parker's game.

Much like Rondo Parker finally got going. Spurs hanging around and going to try and close it late.

I am not happy hearing you agree with Smith
specially because the example he used of lock defense was without Bynum on the floor
His attacking mas was Dejuan Blair for gods sake as good as he
is hes not Howards nor garnett not even close
I dont know
sometimes commentators kill me

one spanish commentator on space (TNT) dare to say he "wish" the game between miami and Orlando was "over" during 3rd quarter
that as unprofesional as it gets
I will never see a game on space again

p.s. its an argentinan channel or broadcasting

Spurs are too small for the Lakers. I dont see how LA isnt coming out of the west. They are just too good.

Blair and Tim Duncan starting frontcourt? That will get eaten alive in the playoffs by the Lakers.

Most of his offense tonight came from literally starting at halfcourt and going into ISOs. In other words...he still plays the same way he has the last 7 years that got him no title. We can stop that.

I missed that ... but yeah, I was about to say, just look at the difference in DeJuan Blair's performance. He goes from a 17 point and 15 rebound performance to a 2 point and 1 rebound in 8 minutes guy.

That is the presence of Andrew Bynum versus the Lakers without Andrew Bynum.

I agree Bynum isn't in the class of elite defenders like KG or Dwight Howard. I don't regard him as an All-Defensive type guy ... but he is a very good defensive player.

I think he is under-rated defensively on this blog. He is an intimidating presence ... not because he's tough or mean ... just because of his sheer size and length. He's a tough guy to shoot over in the paint when he rotates over. He dissuades a lot of undersized players (like Blair) and small guards (like Parker) from taking those shots + he alters a good number of shot that are taken in those areas.

It's a crying shame that he won't dedicate himself to becoming an All-Defensive player because I fully believe he has the talent to do it ... but too immature. He wants to score the ball. He sees that as recognition / acceptance of talent. Needs to be a go-to scorer. Too bad.

----------------------------------------------

Also, this is why DeJuan Blair is overrated. Too vulnerable to teams with length. He posts great numbers during the regular season and he is handful for many teams ... but top defensive teams with size and length on the interior cause him a lot of problems.

Spurs dont have much size but dont rule them out at the trade deadline. They know this might be their last real shot at a title with all of these guys healthy.

I can see them beating the Lakers.
