I'll cut Avery and sign him to the Red Claws since we have no use of him this year and he'll only be taking up a valuable roster spot. With that said i'll be able to keep both Wafer and Lasme

If you cut Avery Bradley he will instantly be gone.

We picked him at #19 and alot of teams consider that quite a bargain.

Yep.  As wdleehi said, he wouldn't even clear waivers.

Erden and Lasme have shown the most.

Wafer, can hit the 3, but hasn't shown much in preseason.

If there was an injury to either West or Nate, having Wafer would be a benefit though.

People are forgetting that chemistry means a lot to this team and Lasme has shown better chemistry. Marquis can play SF but he can also play SG. So while Delonte is street clothes, Marquis can fill in at SG and Lasme at SF. If he does not work we are no worse off, because there is no way Wafer displaces Delonte or Marquis. Only time we would need Wafer is if both of them went down.

I mean, we can argue the opposite, right?  The only time we would need Lasme is when Pierce and/or Marquis went down.

Also, I think Wafer's range would come in handy in end-of-quarter situations, etc., meaning that he could actually be useful on a game-to-game basis.  He'd sort of be a better version of Michael Finley (since he can also penetrate and score / draw fouls).

At his rookie scale I bet whom ever had first waiver claim and could take him would immediately grab him. Even if just as trade bait.

At this stage, it probably doesnt matter too much if we cut Lasme or Wafer. As long as we sign one to a non guaranteed contract that we can dump if need be to help us get another player. That non guaranteed deal could be attractive trade filler for a team looking to dump a player.

As stated above, Nate and Quisy will get the lions share of the back up 1-3 minutes. If Delonte West is healthy to contribute after his 10 game vacation he will round out the backup situation for those positions. If one of these three is lost for the season, Wafer nor Lasme is a suitable replacement for more than a couple of games. We will make a trade or change around the rotation to compensate.

The kid Bradley will end up getting his ankle healed and head for Maine soon enough. I seriously doubt he will be brought in as a candidate for injury replacement for one of the backups. The history of Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers does not include using Rookies extensively in any role on a team with NBA championship contender aspirations.

This view about Wafer is certainly with merit. But it's interesting that in terms of this preseason, the only thing Wafer did do in an end-of-quarter situation was at the end of the Toronto game. There he turned the ball over twice, scored nothing, gave Nate Robinson no help with the ball-handling and generally faded into the background while the Raptors came close to pulling out the game.

Meanwhile, in an earlier contest, Lasme had that decisive end of game move on Barngani(?) leading to a slam dunk, that sealed up a victory.

legitimate potential starter ability.
Is this something like "tremendous upside potential"?

Yup, I like Wafer for these reasons he's fearless going to the rim and can/would draw fouls or kick it out he does it well

You are aware that Von Wafer has a reputation for being a black hole who would never kick it out?  If Ainge wanted someone who passed the ball more than Von Wafer, he could have tried to get Larry Hughes.

From what I understand, The NBA allows for a 12-man max. active roster, and a 3-man maximum on the inactive roster. Those 3 players on the inactive list can play in the D-league.

The players I think obvious to make the 12-man squad would be: Paul, KG, Ray, Rondo, Shaq, JO, Daniels, BBD, and Bradley. With Perk on the inactive roster to start the season. (I think we have too much stock in Bradley to send him down).

The remaining players include Delonte, Luke, Lasme, Erdin, Wafer and Mario West. So only one player NEEDS to be cut, regardless of what the organization may or may not do.

IMO...Erdin definitely makes this team, and most likely the active roster...The same should go for Delonte...Luke will be on the inactive list and sent down to develop some more... That leaves Mario, Wafer and Lasme, all of whom have non-guaranteed contracts. I think they should designate Lasme and let Wafer prove himself. Mario is out of the loop.

In short: active roster: PP, KG, RR, Shaq, JO, Ray, West, Q, BBD, Erdin, Wafer and Bradley
Inactive Roster: Perk, Luke, Lasme

In the playoffs we can only have the 12-man roster. So with Perk hopefully back by then, its between Bradley and Wafer for the final spot.

You have access to your full 15 man roster in the playoffs, you may only dress 12 for a given game.
