Who gets cut? Who stays?

Not sure if it has been mentioned in here yet, but I think there's a decent chance that we may not keep any of Lasme/Wafer/West and go with a 14 player roster going into the season to maintain flexibility.

While Lasme has exceeded expectations, he is at a position where we have KG, Davis, Harangody and Jermaine could slide in as well. I don't think he can realistically play sf as he doesn't have the necessary skills offensively and his defense suffers as well when he has to go to the 3.

Wafer is at a position where we have a slightly bigger need with West out the first 10 games and Bradley's health up in the air right now. He has also started to play better the last 2 games with his shot starting to fall. But he was terrible the other 5 games and Doc expressed frustration with him not being able to pick up the defense.

We may waive all 3 of them and hope that 1 or 2 of them stick in Maine so we could call them up later in the year if necessary. Or we could leave that last spot for a veteran who gets bought out later in the season.

I think I mentioned before that this is a feeling I get, too.   Since no one commented on it, I thought it was probably just an iffy idea....

From what I saw in the first half last night that looks like a reasonable outcome.  Both have been given opportunities, but neither seems to have sealed the deal.

Yeah, I don't think not having Delonte for 10 games is a *major* factor in the decision.  They're comfortable with Nate out there, so I bet you'll see a little Rondo/Nate backcourt pairing when they can get away with it.  Quis has had a pretty solid preseason, so we'll see him getting a solid 20-25 MPG backing up both Paul and Ray.  Maybe a few spot minutes to Bradley (he's shown he can at least play defense).

The first ten games are a lot less important than the games that start in April.  If they think Lasme can develop into a bigger Tony Allen-type, they won't let him go (someone will snag him pretty quick).

Multiple people have said similar things, but honestly, I don't think the risk of Lasme coming back and burning us are very great at all.  It's not like the guy is capable of shutting down Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett.

I'm not very excited about Wafer, and less so about Mario West.

I would be pretty excited to see some version of an uber-athletic lineup option.  It's something we haven't had in a few years.  Nate would surely be part of that, as would perhaps Erden at the 5.  I think Lasme could have a place there.  Delonte and Quisy could fill out the wings for their versatility and experience.  I wouldn't mind seeing that lineup go at it for a few minutes each game to change things up.

Agreed, we've actually seen the Rondo/Nate pairing as couple times already in this pre-season.

As far as cutting Lasme and going with 14, I don't see the point of that.  Lasme can play in Maine, so why not retain control of him?

Cutting Lasme now (and leaving that last roster spot open) would be a purely financial move.  If they didn't think Lasme or M. West or Wafer had any chance of being or developing into a contributor, maybe they would cut all three guys and save the money.  As it is now, if someone really good gets cut by another team... well, you could always cut them later on.

They'll go with 15 players.

With Delonte's back and 10 day suspension --I predict that Von Wafer gets the 15th spot but only for the 10 days of Delonte's  suspension --if Wafer is not needed or is needed and does not deliver we go with 14 unless-if he delivers he could buy himself a little time.

Harangody has played well enough to make Lasme superfluous.

Why?



1) Avery will still be paid all that money.

2) He will never make it to the Red Claws as any (and every) team will put a claim in for him. 



A guy that shows to have an NBA future for two older guys that may (and I stress may at this point) be fringe NBA players.

Cutting ever other person on this list is a better idea than cutting Bradley. He has legitimate potential starter ability. None of the rest of these guys are more than borderline bench guys.

     You can never have too many shooters. Right now I would like to keep Wafer. I think he's been trying (overly) to be a team player, which seems like a good sign for him given his chucker reputation. Ithink he'll look better once he feels more secure.

Why?

He's a guaranteed contract and has the potential to be far better than either Wafer or Lasme.  C's would be required to pay him and pretty much every other team out there will try to sign him before he even has to comtemplate signing for the Red Claws.
