Somewhat unrelated, but...

Does anybody else just stare at the screen with a dumb grin on his/her face when watching Avery Bradley play defense?

Was that you peeking in my windows?

TP for totally busting me.  That kid's a terror on D.  I can see why Danny wasn't willing to go too far to retain that other bench defense guy...he knew something.

I have been very impressed with his ability to stay in front of his man. I haven't seen many people move laterally as well as he does. Hopefully he pans out. He an Rondo would be ridiculous backcourt defense.

If Bradley were full strength it would be an easy call; but the fact that he is not ready and Delonte sits 10 games may mean that Wafer is on board to a limited time. But, if they feel comfortable with Lasme that may allow them to spread the minutes to manage things without Wafer. So when Delonte returns he would not be replacing Wafer but allowing Marquis to move back down to SF and move Lasme further down the bench or to Maine.

Rondo Nate (Bradley)
Ray Marquis
PP Lasme
KG BBD Luke
JO Shaq Erden (Perk)

Give Bradley another 10 days of practice and I'd put him on par with the best of what we've seen from Wafer.

For the bubble guys I would say west and bradley (due to injury) are the only guys that haven't shown at least one good game.  Luke has looked good of late, Lasme has impressed me right along, Erden looks solid.  Only bubble guy who I have seen absolutely nothing from is Von Wafer so I can't see how he can not get cut.  For 10 games without Delonte we can get by just fine with rondo, ray, nate and marquis.  I do think if Bradley is healthy enough it will be a done thing, he showed me more albeit a bit to pumped up in his first 10 minutes than wafer so far.

Bradley isn't a bubble guy.  He's not in the discussion of who makes the team or gets cut.
He made it on draft day.

agreed just figured i'd put his name in as well, only true bubble guys are lasme and west but I feel if you look at all the rookies or invites the two who haven't shown as much so far are west and wafer, in limited minutes imo bradley shows more promise than wafer at helping the celtics THIS year

Bradley is "bubble" only in terms of rotation (like 'Gody).  Probably on the outside looking in, but there's an off-chance he could carve out a little playing time for himself during Delonte's suspension (assuming that Von doesn't make the squad).  The team would be a little short of depth at the 2/3 spot; you'd have Nate (playing alongside Rondo), but it's really just he and Quis to back up three spots.  That could leave a little room for Bradley to earn a few minutes, or even for 'Gody/Lasme to squeeze in a couple minutes behind Pierce.

Yeah, Bradley is locked in to a roster spot, and he certainly has a golden opportunity to get some playing time early in the season with West's suspension.  He has his work cut out for him to prove he is up to it however, since he is behind everyone else, and looked completely lost offensively (and careless).  But his defense (which was shockingly good for a guy who had what? 1 practice as a pro, and was coming off ankle surgery) could earn him some spot minutes around the quarters.

I really would love to see Doc put him out there with Rondo for a few minutes just to see how many turnovers they could create.

As a UMass alum, I'd love to see Lasme make the team....it would be a great story, but realistically at best, he's a defensive specialist with even less offense than Bruce Bowen...his options at the elbow are limited.

Von Wafer has done it before, but, from what I've seen so far, don't know how.....thought he would be a fill in for Delonte, but not now....giving spot by default to Lasme unless a late waiver claim for a 2-3 looks like a better bet  (Quinton Ross, Steve Novak) or a 3 like Dante Cunningham

Lasme seems like the kind of guy players would want to go to battle with.  He seems like a warrior.  Wafer, not so much.

Von Wafer is not shooting the ball enough when he's open. A few times he had space to launch a shot and gave it up, once causing a shot clock violation. Maybe he'll learn to pull the trigger as we go but it's frustrating. He might just make this team due to injuries. Doc Rivers said Avery Bradley is likely to be shut down until his left ankle is healthy. So Perk and Bradley will be inactive. Delonte underwent tests on his back, guess we'll know more in a couple days according to Doc. Don't you wish there was a combination of the remaining 3, of course he'd have been signed already.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in here yet, but I think there's a decent chance that we may not keep any of Lasme/Wafer/West and go with a 14 player roster going into the season to maintain flexibility.

While Lasme has exceeded expectations, he is at a position where we have KG, Davis, Harangody and Jermaine could slide in as well. I don't think he can realistically play sf as he doesn't have the necessary skills offensively and his defense suffers as well when he has to go to the 3.

Wafer is at a position where we have a slightly bigger need with West out the first 10 games and Bradley's health up in the air right now. He has also started to play better the last 2 games with his shot starting to fall. But he was terrible the other 5 games and Doc expressed frustration with him not being able to pick up the defense.

We may waive all 3 of them and hope that 1 or 2 of them stick in Maine so we could call them up later in the year if necessary. Or we could leave that last spot for a veteran who gets bought out later in the season.

Wafer has a legitimate NBA level skill. Shooting the ball. Lasme, who I really like, doesn't really have that. He is almost there at a few things, but just not quite good enough to make this level of a team. Wafer showed you last night why he should make this team. He can really knock that 3 ball down and with this team he will get a lot of looks on double teams. I wish we had a spot for Lasme, and if Perk was healthy he might get the nod and Erden would get the boot, but I don't see it happen. Erden has looked awfully good and that hasn't helped Lasme's case.

I think I mentioned before that this is a feeling I get, too.   Since no one commented on it, I thought it was probably just an iffy idea....
