I think Harangody gets cut.  He shot better today, but I still don't like his game.  Terrible defensively.  I know Wafer has looked awful, but he has played well in the NBA in the past, so I'd like a further look at him.

That's how I see it so far.  Still some games left though.

wafer gets waived, lasme to D league
I don't see a scenario in which Lasme will go to the D-league. If he's waived, I imagine he's going back to Europe. The guy is 27, and he can play.

Lasme has said that he is not going to Europe because he wants to be with his family who is here. He will go to Maine if he does not make the cut.

Sure, Wafer played well in Houston... but he had his knucklehead moments there.  Greece was a disaster for him.  Got back to the NBA last season  on a ten-day contract and didn't get into a game.

He ain't an established player by any means, he's wholly redundant when Delonte's back from suspension, and I'd bet that Harangody's got more guaranteed money on his contract.

Harangody is a rookie, and he's played better head and shoulders than Wafer. I don't know whether Wafer or Lasme will stay, but Harangody's staying. He's shown a willingness to work, and at least he can hang his hat on "the speed of the NBA picking up" rung.

Wafer's performance is pretty inexcusable at this point. He's being outplayed by Lasme, and he looks completely lost out there.

Von Wafer does not provide anything to this team that they do not already have. I think he would be the most logical cut, but who knows what will eventually happen.

I remember a few years ago, the Celtics had acquired Luke Jackson in a trade with the Cavaliers. He made a few 3's in the preseason. He looked good enough to get a spot on the roster, though he was cut.

So what's my point?

Today Tommy Heinsohn said that teams generally tend to take a closer look at bigs. Considering the way Lasme has played, and the dimension he brings (hustle 3/4 with athletic ability), he is the least likely to be cut IMO.  He was really finishing around the hoop today. Plus he is active on defense. Generally young players only want to play one side of the floor but he has shown me that he is up to the task on both ends.

BTW For those who want Harangody gone, remember he was a 2nd round pick. And I think he was already signed to a guaranteed contract. Plus he has improved drastically from game 1 of the preseason. The delivery of his shot and comfort level are definite areas of improvement.

I would rather get rid of both of them (Wafer and Harangody) but Harangody is signed to a guaranteed contract and is a rookie so its unlikely he gets cut...

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
KG
O'neal

O'neal
Robinson
Bradley
Daniels
West
Davis
Erden
Lasme
Perkins
Harangody

Unless something ridiculous happens (Ray teaches Von how to shoot or someone gets injured) I don't see how this is not the roster unless we go with a 14 player roster...

Wafer is on at least a partially-guaranteed contract.  Some news sources reported his contract was fully guaranteed.  It would be blatantly idiotic to cut either Wafer or Harangody if you're only going to leave the roster spot open.  To financially justify cutting Wafer (or Harangody, for that matter), either he has to be a cancer that you want to be rid of or else you want to make room for a player who you believe is more than marginally better than him.  Or else he has to have a partially guaranteed contract that becomes fully guaranteed if he makes the regular season roster.

If none of those conditions exist, then you keep the players, even if you don't particularly like them, until at least early January.  That's when teams start waiving players before all contracts become fully guaranteed on January 10.

Wanting to cut players just because you don't like them, without considering the nuances of roster and salary cap management is as ludicrous as if some supposedly professional sports columnist criticized the Celtics for failing to go after a max free agent this off-season without even looking at the salary cap.

To add to your point, Harangody looked good defending the pick and roll tonight. He might get beat a little but that’s to be expected.

I don’t know how anyone could say he looked horrible defensively.

Haters gonna hate.

You wouldn't have Powe out there guarding 3's like Lasme.

LOL.  Why can't he play through preseason, then cut him?  I want to see a few more games with him.  Then if he still sucks after being given plenty opportunities, cut him. He is looking pretty bad though.

Did he guard 3s last night? I didn't catch the game.

A rich man's Leon Powe would at least rebound, even if he was playing the 3. From the box score Lasme didn't do that.
