We also sent a 2012 7th round pick.  This keeps getting better and better

Wow....just wow. Bill needs to not be in charge of personal  anymore. Between the drafts, adiluis, the seymore trade and now this, he's just not a very good gm.

Great coach, killing us since he took over the front office in 06 and Scott p left town.
Your questioning the seymour trade? Really? We're looking at a top 5 draft pick right now, the way the raiders are playing and seymour was going to be gone at the end of the season regardless.

We had the choice of wilfork or seymour, we couldn't pay both of them.

I disagree that the drafts since 08 have been good. We have no idea aboutthis years class yet, people thought maroney was going to be  a superstar based on his first 8 games.

Also, they better hope there is no lockout because if there is all those picks will be in one of the weakest drafts of all time. No underclassmen are coming out next year if there's a work stoppage.

And a top ten pick doesn't mean the seymore trade was a good one. They haven't really hit gold in the first round since 2006, a pick is very hit or miss for an established defensive lineman.
Pat Chung and Sebastian Vollmer are both future pro-bowlers. Along with three other starters, Ingram, Brace, and Butler, and thats from the 09 class alone.

The incoming class, we already have 4 starters from, and we're only four weeks in.

And the reason why we've been "hit or miss" on our first rounders is because we've been picking at the end of the first round. Look at bill's track record on his first rounders in the top 15:

Wilfork, Warren, Mayo, Seymour.

Bills track record for top 15, top 10 picks is very very good.

Cameron Hayward man, watch out.

We definitely made the right choice with the Seymour deal.  I hope we made the right deal for the Moss one, but I was hoping for much more than we got.  Again this is an addition by subtraction deal.

Moss is great great player and he adds a dimension that just about no other can, but we will move on and be fine with out him.  I like the way we are going, we are getting back to the way we did it in the Super Bowl years.

Yeah, i feel iffy on the moss deal too. Don't get me wrong, i love having 8 picks in the first 4 rounds. But its tough to see him go.

Also, if we hung on to him, we would have gotten a 5th round compensatory pick in 2012. But that would have been at the very end of the round.

I like the deal. It would be nice to have gotten more for him, but whatever. The AFC is pretty stiff this year, and stockpiling picks is a good thing to continue a winner for years to come.

For part of a season the Pats take a hit, but overall, good deal.

Either way however, I wouldn't be losing sleep on this thing.

The Pats won't miss Moss at all, they've got the best Special Teams in the history of the NFL.

Haha. Of course, the Jets also blocked a punt the week before, so I don't think Pats fans can rely on that working against other teams.

They will miss Moss this year, but they are clearly thinking long term. Probably smart considering the mediocrity of the defense this year.

More sources are now saying Moss had a heated argument with Bill O'Brien at halftime of the Dolphins game, some calling it an "outburst."  Moss didn't have a single pass thrown his way in the 2nd half.  Maybe this has been brewing for some time and the halftime incident was the last straw.

From the report I heard, it sounds like O'Brien might have escalated that a lot more than was necessary.  Moss seemed to make a pretty innocuous comment ("let's get something going"), and it turned into a huge thing.

Not sending a single pass his way in the 2nd half after an argument seems a little childish.

Well, it's not like the Pats had a ton of opportunity to throw it to him in the second half.  They only had a couple drives.  I think it is reasonable to think he just wasn't open.

The way I look at it, we traded a 4th and a 7th rounder for a 3rd rounder and 3 years of career-prime work from possibly the second best receiver of all time. That seems like a pretty good deal to me.

How does a third round pick for a weak draft help us in a season with no dominat team in the NFL and a 3-1 record?

That's how I look at it. I guess it comes down to how much you like bridge years, which this just became for the pats.

A better way to look at it is that you traded a 1 year of great WR play and a 7th round pick for a third round pick.

The past was already a sunk cost.

Roy can you please link or quote the report you heard so I can read it.
