Well, looks like Glen Davis has the support of Ray Allen, at least. I took this quote from todays "Ray Allen leads pedestrian life" article from Boston Herald:
I just get to come out here and do my job, he said. I have great confidence in myself and great security in knowing what it is I need to do to help this team be successful. But every day (Shaquille ONeals) here, Kevin (Garnett), (Rajon) Rondo, Big Baby (Glen Davis), Nate (Robinson), Paul (Pierce). Weve got some good names on this team of guys that have had some very fascinating and exciting careers in basketball. I just get to come here and do my job. I know the guys we have will make me better, but at the same time I have to make them better, too.
“Things are kind of leveled out now,” he said. “It’s not me, Paul and Kevin - you know, how we came in that first year with all the media attention and the scrutiny of everybody watching us. Now you’ve got Rondo bringing himself to a great level, and (Kendrick Perkins [stats]) has done that, too. Glen has established himself.
If Ray was upset by Glen's comments last week, he certainly doesn't show it here.
I think we all know Glen Davis' limitations by now. But at the end of the day, I'm glad he's on our bench. To me personally, I can't pen losing in 08-09 playoffs on Glen Davis, nor can I blame him soley for us losing to LA in June of this year.
For me, I'm looking forward to another year of Glen, backing up KG, and for a salary that doesn't hem us up. He is well worth what he is getting paid, and IMO has been a bargain for us.
