If I had to rank the top 15 teams in this league, right now, 10 of them are in the Eastern Conference. There will be 2 Eastern Conference teams deserving of being in the playoffs that won't make it(probably 1 from the Atlantic and 1 from the Southeast)

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I could be talked into swapping 1 & 2 and 3 & 4

EDIT: On second glance: 1,2 and 3 are pretty interchangable.

I think the division will have 2 high-50's win teams, and 1 mid-50's win team. I need to see Action's full rooster before I can really place him in the division.

You got the number one pick and best player in the league, if you weren't on this list, there would be something seriously wrong with your team building skills.

After this whole thing is over, I'd be interested to hear that list.  I think the West has improved, to the point of being pretty underrated.  A few of the Eastern teams have big gobs of mismatched talent that wouldn't make a very compelling team, and therefore I think they're overrated compared to a few of the Western teams.

Thoughts on this team since I'm not finding anything I really like for outlaw and Smith:

Pg: Rondo/Bynum/Jordan Crawford
SG: Rush/Smith/Crawford/Murray
SF: Outlaw/Ebanks/Kapono
Pf: Landry/Humphries or Howard/
C:  Bogut/Mohammad/Howard
Overall, I think this team is very comparable to the Milwaukee Bucks last season. A top 8 defensive team + a mediocre offensive squad. A 48 win bracket team.

Rajon Rondo and Andrew Bogut are the two players who are responsible for most of the value to this team. They are both excellent defenders who give the the a team a tough defensive identity. They are combined with average to good defensive players two through four (SG, SF, PF) which will allow the team (Celtics?) to form a very good defensive squad.

Offensively, Rondo and Bogut are again the hubs of the team's operations. Rondo the dynamic playmaker and Bogut the highly skilled seven footer who gives them a solid post game. Carl Landry gives them a third dependable offensive option at the four + JR Smith gives them a wonderful shooter and slasher at the two.

I'm not a big fan of Will Bynum -- his teammates tend to play badly when he is on the floor (Bynum is the biggest reason for Ben Gordon's + Rip Hamilton's struggles last season), dominates the ball like Chris Paul but doesn't have the talent to back it up -- but I think this is a good situation for him. Bynum will only be on the court when Rondo is resting and will likely see only a small amount of minutes alongside Bogut too ... and the Bucks will lack players who can create their offense while they are sitting so Bynum's ball-hogging is a good fit here.

Travis Outlaw is a fairly average player. He struggles to create his own shot against good defensive players on the wing. He is far more effective as a power forward where he has a quickness advantage versus his opponent. So on this team, as a SF, I would view him more as a complementary weapon than a guy who can create some offense for you.

Brandon Rush is a nice big two guard. He defends well and rebounds well. Rush is a small negative offensively. He has a nice perimeter shot but is otherwise very limited on that end of the floor. Those advantages (defense, rebounding) that he has as a SG disappear when he is used against bigger wings (SF) and he becomes a low level player. So, ideally, he is a one position player.

JR Smith is an excellent complement to Rondo and Bogut. I was very disappointed not to see him in the starting lineup after you drafted him ... but if this is the finished roster, then it's probably best to keep him in the second unit. Allow Brandon Rush to be more effective. He'll also help keep Ebanks' offensive duties as restricted as possible, another plus, and give your second unit good firepower.

But back at the starting point when you acquired JR Smith, I would have been planning the rest of the roster with him penciled in as a starter. He truly is a terrific complement to Rondo and Bogut ... neither player takes a large number of shots and love having offensive players like Smith beside them. Especially someone with JR's shooting ability + slashing. Someone who can both create his own offense and play comfortably off of them when they are creating.

Kris Humphries is a solid fourth big in the rotation. He rebounds the ball well, plays average defense and is a useful offensive player. He makes some Tony Allen-esque slam your head against the table type mistakes but on the whole he is a good player as a fourth big.

I have doubts over Nazr Mohammed. He played very well last season but it was by far his best season in several years and I'm not sure if he can repeat that form. Ditto for Juwan Howard. I like Flip Murray as a third string combo guard and I don't know enough about Jordan Crawford to comment.

I agree Nick, it will be a bummer when the Boxers don't make the playoffs. ;)

Just for kicks and giggles IP I went back to compare what your team would have looked like if you hadn't made any trades and the player chosen at that position was the player you picked. Here would be your team:

LeBron James
Luol Deng
Emeka Okafor
Elton Brand
Kirk Hinrich
Mike Miller
Chris Duhon
Tony Allen
Kyrylo Fesenko
Michael Redd
Von Wafer
Landry Fields
Gani Lawal

This would have been the Boxers:

Andrew Bogut
Andrew Bynum
Roy Hibbert
Wilson Chandler
Jamal Crawford
Marresse Speights
Glen Davis
Nazr Mohammed
Eric Maynor
Jordan Crawford
Donte Green
Gordon Hayward
Dante Cunningham

Boxers would have been big...if nothing else.

You won't hear me argue.  Any of those teams could stake a legitimate claim for the playoffs.  The Warriors are maybe a little young, but top to bottom, every team in the division is extremely talented, and is populated with superstars and budding superstars.

The Pacific Division:  Where we have one good center between five teams, but can still kick your butt.
