With the 16th pick in the 12th round, the Utah Jazz select: Brian Zoubek

I like this guy, but when I started a thread on him after march madness, i believe everybody said this guy wasn't worth considering with our 2nd round draft pick and would never pan out in the NBA.  Not even as what I claimed to be a marcin gortat defending/rebounding role player type.

That's the reason why I drafted him.  Plus, he's my 5th big so figured it was worth the gamble.

Adding another 7 footer to the fold doesn't hurt, either. I have 4 of them now.

Quote
Tayshaun Prince's defense has declined considerably from where he was 4-5 years ago, even 2-3 years ago. He is still a good defender but no longer a defensive standout.

Jeff Green is a comparable defender to Prince (vs SFs) and a superior rebounder. Green is also a good ball-handler and passer. Prince beats him for perimeter shooting but his lack of overall scoring efficiency limits that advantage.

They are two highly comparable players (as small forwards) at this stage in Tayshaun Prince's career.

why are u comparing Prince to Jeff Green...Maggette was traded not Green..its a question of maggette vs Prince
Jeff Green could have taken the role you are giving to Prince while allowing you to keep Corey Maggette as your sixth man and one of the league's best scorers off the bench.

San Antonio - 15th - Fabricio Oberto

This is a good pick
I think hestill have gas in the tank and being underused hurt him

I don't think so. I think he's finished. Oberto was declining rapidly in San Antonio before moving on to Washington.

Still a very intelligent offensive player but he is now a large liability defensively and on the glass.

We have a trade:

Mil sends
Prince, 13.19

For LAL
Corey Maggette
Don't like this trade for Milwaukee. Prince is a good player that fits seemlessly in with other players. With the Elbows starting five his fit was excellent.

With Maggette that all changes. He is a black hole offensively and considers himself to be the best offensive player on the floor at all times. The Elbows offensive cohesion just shot itself in the foot, IMHO.
Yeah I agree, Prince is a good passer and glue guy.

Prince is a better fit for lakers imho than maggette was.

While losing prince is a loss for the the Bucks I think Maggette is a great fit for us.

Our starting 5 now looks like this

Kidd
Rip
Maggette
Dirk
Gortat

Dirk will draw the bigs away from the hoop clearing the way for Maggette to drive.  If the bigs stay back to protect the rim, Rip, Kidd, and Dirk will tear teams apart with jump shooting.

Also, with Dirk away from the basket, Gortats guy has to help off gortat to stop Maggette's penetration either leaving gortat open for a layup or leaving him to attack the offensive boards.  Either way its good for an active center like Gortat.

While there is the worry that Maggette can be a black hole, he also hasnt played with a good PG and premiere scorer since the clippers with Cassel and Brand and that team made it to game 7 of the western semi's.

CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

don't think so and he took a lot of flack for that and the other deal he made (don't remember the particulars).... hope it didn't run him off.

FWIW, i thought it wasn't nearly as bad for DAL as some made it out.

Mistakes to be expected. (I'm just a crackpot with a couple of picks late in the 12th.) I'll fix.

Question: if we don't have 13 players after 13 rounds, can we fill out our roster through free agency?

also i was concerned that before adding Maggette people would say that i didn't have a second banana for Dirk.  Which to some extents was true.

With the 12.20 pick, the DENVER NUGGETS select

James Singleton

Got lost in the shuffle in DAL with their addition of Marion, but reverted back to the high energy, super rebounder, locker room presence in WAS. Comparable numbers (actually slightly better) to Brandon Bass, taken 2 rounds early. A poor homeless man's Shawn Marion

James Singleton is a nice addition. I would play him ahead of Drew Gooden.

Singleton + Duncan/Darko would be a very effective defensive pairing.
