Hmmmmmm...should I? It feels right...but is it?

Aw heck here goes...

Looking for an infusion of veteran experience as well as some additional size and toughness in the paint, The OKC Thunder Grizz select...

Jermaine O'Neal

The rejuvenated and highly motivated JO will team up with the always improving Marc Gasol and eat anyone's lunch who dares enter the paint.
Great pick. No one is going to rip it because we are all have talked ourselves into him playing well for the C's this year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Dalembert will get plenty of minutes to himself after DC's eventual drug suspension.

Can we paint him with a broader brush? Murder charges? Cousins clearly lacks maturity - has a temper, bad body language, some wool between his ears. But drugs?

Unlike successful NBA veterans such as Haslem, Randolph, Odom, Noah, Wilson Chandler, etc.

Include me in that crowd. He hasnt played for a contender in years. This guy not too long ago was an amazing two way player. He doesnt have much mileage at 31 even coming out of high school (he rode pine his first 4 years in Portland. I expect big things from JO this year. He will rack up the miles dominating for my 2 favorite teams though...the C's...and the Thunder Grizz.

With the 29th pick in the 4th round the 76ers select Rodney Stuckey

Not crazy about the player, but love that you announced what pick in the round you were drafting the player at.  TP for that.  Doesn't that make it easier for us to realize where we are in the draft, everyone?  I'll try to do this going forward.

Aw come on action...every shot blocker gets dunked on! He average 1.4 bpg in jst under 30 mpg last year. He is still a presence.

Agreed. I'll do that from now on (even though I failed to do so just 10 minutes ago!)

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

Cousins smokes an inhuman amount of weed, or at least he did at Kentucky. The mans lungs have a superhuman regenerating ability just to make him able to run up and down the court each night.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I like the J.O. pick.  People in the past have tended to underrate him, but he's still an above-average starter on both ends.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The Denver Nuggets select the only remaining 22 ppg scorer on the board....

Gilbert Arenas

aaaaannnd........... GO!

I knew that was coming soon.  I didn't expect it from GC, though.

You have the right type of team for Arenas to thrive on, though.  Westbrook, Deng, and Camby are all plus defenders, which helps make up for Gilbert.  Deng and Camby are passive enough not to fight for touches.

This was exactly the thinking in DENVER, Roy. Guys like Z-Bo, Arenas, etc have to be surrounded by the right teammates to even make an argument.

we think we've done that in DEN.

We debated long and hard (with myself, yes.... i'm as crazy as Gil) about taking another guy we like a lot since he'd be more popular w/ voters, but forget that... this is fun and watching Arenas drop 30 on the other teams in the West is gonna be wicked fun!!

Don't buy it.

Westbrook is no leader. Not in his clubhouse anyways. Deng is not the leader in his clubhouse either. Noah and Rose have that honor. Camby, as Roy said, is passive. That has kind of defined him. He doesn't keep anyone in line but himself, and he doesn't make anyone else better. He's a good player on bad teams and he's a good player on good teams.

I could buy "this plauer is going to help keep Gilbert in line", as long as the vet in question is A) More talented, even in Gilbert's mind, and B) as mature and professional on and off the basketball court as gilbert is immature on and off.

Nobody you have on your squad is more talented than Gilbert..not if he regains the form you say he will. That means Gilbert calls the shots.

In 09-10, when Gilbert went down he was playing with two potential and recent all-stars, Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison. When he went down that team had a record of 11 wins and 21 losses, and Gilbert had a true shooting % of 51.1%, his worst since his sophomore year (not counting 08-09 when he only played 2 games).

I just don't think your squad as constructed can get out of him what he's capable of doing.

In other news, IP arrived in Portland ME at 1pm today. If anyone is in South Portland tonight in the Old Town, look for the 6'4 guy with the superman shirt stumbling around. I will also allegedly be jolly.
