(Rashard Lewis)

A CrotorNats binky, IIRC.

Absolutely.  For a late third, he's a steal, in my opinion.

In my book: Good value yes, steal no.

Fell off percipitously in terms of production this year. Was suspended 1st 10 games for performance enhancing drugs.

Hope for his future production the 2 arent' linked?

Never been confused for a very good defender eitehr. hard to play at PF w/o D.Howard behind him.

He had a slightly off year, but that's because of changes in the Magic lineup, I think.  He's still an excellent scorer with elite range.

I think you're both right.

Precipitous decline from last year largely due to changes in that Magic lineup (no more Turkoglu creating for others, Carter sucking up a lot of shot attempts).

Can certainly shoot the 3, but that's about it.

The heck with it, I'm still Assistant Commish, so I'm posting the trades.  I'm very curious for reactions.

If Faf wants to veto one of these, he can, I suppose.  I think they're pretty fair, though.

================================================

Trade #1:

LAL: Zach Randolph, 5.27, 11.27

for

SAC: Josh Smith, 9.9, 10.29

Trade #2 and #3 (completely separately between the two teams):

SAC trades:  Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, 4(29)

PHI trades: Carlos Boozer, Tony Parker, Andrea Bargnani, 6(25)

Put another way:

Quote
SAC trades: Josh Smith, Rudy Gay, 4(29), 9(9), 10(29)

SAC receives:  Carlos Boozer, Tony Parker, Andrea Bargnani, 5(27), 6(25), 11(27)

LAL trades: Zach Randolph, 5(27), 11(27)

LAL receives: Josh Smith, 9(9), 10(29)

PHI trades: Carlos Boozer, Tony Parker, Andrea Bargnani, 6(25)

PHI receives: Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, 4(29)

It looked like Rashard has lost a step. I doubt he can be the scorer he was a few years ago at the small forward position anymore. I don't think he'll be able to get separation off the dribble that he used to get. Not from 18+ feet away from the rim. So I'd expect him to remain in that 17ppg vicinity rather than the 22ppg guy he was back in Seattle.

I would also expect Lewis' defense to drop off when switched back to the three and only be a mediocre defender. He would be a solid rebounder though, no longer a major liability on the glass. Switching him back to the SF position would allow Lewis to create mismatches with his post game again. Another advantage for switching him back to the three.

Vince Carter was a major disruption last season. He is still an effective scorer in isolations and post ups but he struggled mightily in the pick and roll game which is Orlando's bread and butter.

That loss of penetration, passing and overall ball movement led to a decrease in shot attempts + quality looks for Orlando's shooters ... none more so than Rashard Lewis. Add in the increased number of shot attempts Vince took versus Hedo and you have even less shots for Lewis.

Still, a fair portion of the blame lies with Rashard Lewis because he has become too passive and over-reliant on others to create his shot attempts. When Orlando played Ryan Anderson at the four in those same lineups they didn't have anywhere near as much trouble getting shot attempts up from that PF slot. Some of the blame definitely lies with Lewis.

Both trades are fine.

The player's being traded are all comparable in value, with picks making up a few deficits.

Interesting series of moves by all involved!

Wow, that's a haul for Sacto.

It worked out okay, but more importantly, it's a team that fits my style a bit more.

I think Parker and Boozer are both better players than Randolph and Gay but I know others would disagree.

I'm not a Rudy Gay fan.

Sacramento makes out unbelievably, even if I hate Bargnani.

LAL, did well to dump Randolph and still get a quality PF.

Philly got hosed. Big time. Huge Time.

I agree. I think way, way better players than Gay and Randolph and Philly lost Bargs, though I hate his game, is still an asset.

The Lakers now feature are young athletic big three who play defense and can score. All three could have been mid-late first round picks imho.

Stephen Curry Brandon Roy Josh Smith!
Pick 2 Heat:
Pg: Jennings/Vasquez
Sg: Wade/R. Allen/Rivers
SF: Lebron/M. Williams
PF: Bosh/Humphries
C: B. Lopez/Dalembert/Anthony

Ouch, not getting good early returns...
