Good points.
Personally, I think that that certain aspects of his play improved, such as his passing and his shooting range. On the other hand, as his shooting touch got a little better from outside, he starting taking worse shots. Funny how that works. Fact of the matter is, he STILL shouldn't consider taking a jumper unless it's at the end of the shot-clock. But really, shot selection is something that can be easily fixed, and it's a sign that he's growing more and more confident with his jumper, which is a good thing.
His ppg is a non-issue to me... after all, he's on a team with multiple former all-stars! He just needs to worry about setting them up with assists, which he did an amazing job of. The dip in rebounding I think can be attributed to an increased emphasis by the coaching staff on running back to set up the defense (on a side note, I disagree a lot with this way of running a team. no rebounds no championships, as they say). It's funny, I remember Doc at times yelling at Rondo to get back on defense more AFTER he snags yet another offensive rebound. But yeah, the dip in rebounding most certainly wasn't due to a decreased ability to rebound, it was due simply to a decreased emphasis on doing so.
The only discouraging aspect was the dip in free throw %. Frankly, going DOWN from 64% is just kinda pathetic. He HAS to get better at that considering the amount he's being paid. I feel like I can say that without trepidation. When I go over to the court or to the gym and shoot around, just for kicks I'll shoot 10 free throws to see how I do. On my WORST days I'll shoot 6/10, which is practically Rondo's average. For god's sake, I'm only an average shooter in the pickup games I play, and I can still outperform what Rondo gets paid to do as far as free throw shooting is concerned (although to be realistic, I'm not shooting free throws after getting hacked and running up and down a court for 40 minutes. still, that's why he's a professional athlete and I'm not)
Ok so that last paragraph was a bit of a rant, but to sum it all up I think overall Rondo's game has improved, but maybe not as dramatically as some would say.
