It's not a big deal. But somewhere he mentions how excited he is to join a team and have a fresh start after feeling overshadowed with the big three..

I'm not gonna blow it out of proportion because I can definitely see why he feels that way. I'm just shocked to read it.

What do you guys think?
Yeeeaaaa!!!

Do you have a link? I'd love to read it, (TP for your help). It doesn't surprise me at all ... Tony's ego has always gone far beyond his ability, unfortunately, and I can see how he'd be happy to be in a place where he'll get more attention. I don't mean that as a slam, just the way it is.

Thanks Bahku!

For some odd reason, I am only surprised that TA couldn't see that his role on the C's was to be the defensive stop that he is. Not offense, or to be the show of the game. He had his moments, and his best games of his career, but for him to feel that way, when he knows his shooting ability was not THAT great is weird.

I know he's not saying it to slam the big three, or Doc for not putting him in more.. but its quite obvious minutes were a problem for him, and that's why he left.

Yeeeaaaa!!!

Yeah ... I will miss Tony's game, and especially his defense off the bench ... but if it means an improved career for him and a better fit that will make more of his talents, and help him to mature even more than he did last year, then I'm actually happy for the guy. Sounds like he feels much better about this fit, and that's great for everyone involved ... I hope he soars there.

Watch the whole interview. And not an overblown sentence.

I'm really excited for TA. He has a huge opportunity in Memphis. Much success.

edit: Jumped over Memphis forum (grizzliesonline.com) found this radio interview (I think) http://www.box.net/shared/11830qlp4d  Very funny.

Each second that passes each day, I dislike TA even more.

He is a tool, and I guarantee you he will be riding the bench much more than he ever imagined.

I also hope the Grizz finish in dead-last. And then they get screwed in the lottery.

I will not miss that bonehead.

I don't think I am over blowing the sentence. I was just pointing out a simple statement, and wanted to see what everyone thought of the statement.

I personally said I don't think its a big deal.. and me singleling-out the sentence was meant to make him look bad. It's not taken out of context. But I do hope TA have success in Memphis.

But I was just trying to say that he'll probably be hit hard with the realization once all star comes by on why he was a bench player on the C's, and used only for D.. But much love to him for the confidence he has in himself.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
I didn't even waste my time reading this...  I'm glad he's gone.  Low B-Ball IQ, injury prone, gang-running tool...  I won't miss him for one second and I'm glad he's Memphis' property now...  You think he's gonna win a title there?  HA - hardly...

No question there are some ego-driven players, but it's interesting how we assume a player is supposed to prefer winning from the bench than being on the floor.

What if a guy just loves to play basketball, but will never play half as much on a championship team as they would on an average one? Is that so wrong? Especially if he continues to care about winning?

Seems to me that fans can be a bit selfish too...

I'm very happy for TA he always seemed to try hard when he was always out on the floor. What he said wasn't necessarily bad either. He said that he wasn't allowed to shine which is the case for a decent amount of our players. But if you read between the lines he says that being a Celtic taught him "togetherness". He actually made Boston sound good, and it shouldn't be a surprise to ANYONE that the big 3 get the most touches.

Good luck Tony!

Funny seeing all this stuff pop up from a guy who went on record before the season ended saying he wanted to be a celtic for life.  even though hes just a role player it just goes to show you how much stock you can put into comments like that.

I think TA really believes in him self, to such an extent that he becomes delusional at times, i think most people forget that when he signed him last time he proclaimed that he would be better than James Posey on both defense and offense and i think every can agree.. that we at that time got abit of a sour taste from those comments.

But reading this, seems to me like he has matured.. he's saying the same thing (just not about James Posey) but he's being smarter about it.. savy actualy.
This time he isnt proclaiming to be a 10ppg guy off the bench in limited minutes this time, he says he isnt as one dimensional as people think.. its basicly the same thing he's just using the right words.

I hope he does well.. but i actualy doubt it.. TA is one of those players who needs alot of winds in his sails to get going and it dosnt take alot to get him out said groove again.

Seems like a lot to do about nothing. Tony isn't saying anything bad about the Celtics or anything. The other interview he did he went into a little more detail. Nevertheless he's talking about people playing roles. He refers to himself as a utility player, and that he'll hand out gatorade or wave towels if needed. He's just looking for a chance to play a little more, and more than likely get that extra year in his contract.

Both interviews are solid.

i'm a little surprised, given the reports of Allen's close friendships on the team - as well as the fact that he just completed this playoff season as the 2nd guy off the bench - he was more valued this year than at anytime he's been as a Celtic.

kinda surprised he left - but not as amazed as i have always been that someone with that contorted shooting motion ever made it to the nba to begin with - where amazing happens.
