Jermaine was just on WEEI and said that Sheed was still in Boston and that they were having dinner together tonight. He said he was seriously going to try and talk Sheed into coming back for one more season. He wants to be his teammate again for 1 more year ( played together in portland).

If we can't get a legit wing back for Rasheed , I wouldn't mind seeing him back. He would give us Perk insurance in case perk isn't ready to contribute much

ummm idk how to feel about it.. I love Sheed I loved him when everyone body seemed to hate him but I would take him back. But we would have a log jam at 4-5 postion

C-JO/Sheed/Perk (when heathly)
PF-KG/BBD/JO/Sheed

Where do the minutes go? BBD has proven he is a great backup to KG. JO would be the perfect fit in while perk is out.. I just dont know where minutes would go.

If we can't trade the contract, sure.  In that instance, I'd love to agree to a full buyout of Rasheed's contract, and then maybe re-sign him after the All-star break.

If Sheed came back you would have a hard time proving to me that Boston didn't have the best front line depth in the league.  Big advantage over Miami.

Sheed could do the reverse PJ Brown and just play for us in the start of the season until Perk got back. Lol

I thought Danny killed this this morning with his unequivocal statement that Sheed is retiring.  But JO has to revive it, so the conversation will continue until Sheed is finally traded.  JO just lost some points with me.

That'd be the perfect scenario if we can't get a good wing.  I still think we could use a SG/SF but if not that'd be a lot of frontcourt depth that would help us out against LA and be an advantage against some smaller teams.  A lot of fouls to soak up on Howard too.

Why would Rasheed do that?  If he wants to play basketball again, there is no way I see him walking away from $12 million, just to be able to work out at home, instead of with the team (if you call what he does early in the season working out).

I think there is a zero percent chance of this happening.  He is either here on his current contract, or he retires, no in between.

A buyout does the exact same thing as a retirement does for him right now; he still won't be collecting checks.

However, lots of players change their minds about retirement.  Rasheed may want a chance to refresh his batteries, and he could potentially want another chance to compete when the playoffs get closer.

What a buyout, rather than a retirement, does for the team is that it allows Rasheed to come back before sitting out an entire year.

I really wish we could trade Sheeds contract so we can get a legit wing, have him get bought out and come back to us after the trade deadline.  I don't believe that is possible though because I think he'd have to sit out a year or something like that and it won't happen, but it's a pipe dream.

Well, you can think that, but I will bet you anything, Sheed does not do that.  Sheed won't give up that kind of money lightly, and if he retires, he will retire completely.

Sheed probably wouldn't mind sitting on the bench playing sparingly until needed in the playoffs, provided he comes in mid season.

Max brought up a good point about sheeds contract a few months ago. Sheed is pretty much playing for the minimum already if you consider

He will make maybe 3 mil after taxes
He had to move his family across the country and get a new place
Has to pay people to watch his other properties

So after all that he is probably making 1 or 2 mil on his contract

Wouldn't it make sense for him to get paid about 2 mil by being bought out? He could stay at home with the family and be rested for a playoff run
