Quote from: nickagneta on July 11, 2010, 03:56:21 PMIf this is a 4 or 5 year deal, then I can see why Danny wouldn't do it. He got burned once already giving out a 5 year $15 million deal to a bit role player that had a decent playoff run(Scal). He won't do it again with Tony because I just don't see Tony giving this team 5 good years with his inconsistency and injury problems. If it's 4 or 5 years, bye bye Tony. Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.How exactly did Scal's contract burn us? And I think TA's body of work is quite a bit more impressive than Scal's was at the time of his signing.

With contending teams really looking for a defensive stopper, I think he could get much more than that, and play for a much better team. I don't buy this at all.The last time this reporter posted he was telling of the Commercial Appeal learning of Rudy Gay's signing, so he's not a crackpot.Still, I would be shocked if the C's whiffed on TA. Makes very little basketball sense as we have very little way of replacing him, unless Avery Bradley gains 20 lbs of muscle and few years of NBA experience before the start of the season.Ronald Tillery is a very reliable beat reporter. Great sources within the Grizzlies. He had a couple of fantastic interviews with Michael Heisley and Lionel Hollins at the end of the season.

Did anyone else here Dickerson say that we had the Tony signing locked up? I really didn't worry about losing Tony because I believe him.

If true, hopefully they'll do a sign and trade. If TA signs for $3 million per season, then the Celtics could acquire a traded player exception for that amount. It would enable Ainge to pick up someone like Rudy Fernandez for nothing...

They have a payroll of around $62-63 million after signing Rudy Gay.
Have you guys been seeing the contracts given out this summer? $3 Million a season is a deal

The Grizzlies and free agent swingman Tony Allen have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $10 million deal.
