If he can stay healthy, then its a great signing (well, if its less than the MLE...if its for the whole MLE, its OK).  I just hope they can get another servicable big man, because with Perk out for so long, I am not confident in JO and KG staying healthy.

That's a good point. Related to that I hope he understands before he makes a decision that he'll be a bench player here once Perk gets back. No mid-season drama.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

I wonder how much of the MLE he'll chew up.

If he is a threat facing up from midrange then he is an upgrade over Rasheed in my opinion.

Can he catch great passes and lay the ball in without a windup?  If so I suspect the offense will be better w/ Oneal.  Anyway he's a nice piece to go along with KG, Perk (when he gets back)and BBD.  If Boston gets him for any less than 3 it's a bargain.

Next move will be Kwame Brown as a big body on the bench.

I concur.  The question is who?  Joe Smith, Theo Ratliff or James Singleton are likely to be available at the minimum.  If we don't have to spend the full MLE on JO than Kwame Brown could still be in play.

Oh yeah, and Mark Blount!

Woj said JO would chew up most of the MLE. I'm thinking around the $4.5 mill mark for two seasons. I don't see us having much left from the MLE. Still, it would be a nice signing.

ditto. worried about the health issue, but if healthy could end up being a terrific signing. JO has all the elements to his game to be a reliable presence in the middle. he can defend the rim and finish around the basket.

Rondo could end up making him look really good.

I didn't realize you could sign a player who was legally deceased.

Another coup for Danny.

Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated has Dallas also in the mix.

Jermaine O'Neal is in discussions with Boston, Dallas and Denver, a source familiar with the discussions told SI.
