  • GOT IT!!!
If this was 5 years ago I would be ecstatic. I think O'Neal is done though. I don't expect much out of him except a body for depth.

  • Rondo = Good
He's still solid on defense and I think he's a lot better than he looked in the playoffs against our smothering defense.

I'd be just fine with adding Jermaine O'Neal as long as it's not full MLE for more than a couple years.

He also actually adds an extra facet to our starting lineup because he can hit a mid-range jumper.  His best offense is actually as a face-up player.

If he can stay healthy, then its a great signing (well, if its less than the MLE...if its for the whole MLE, its OK).  I just hope they can get another servicable big man, because with Perk out for so long, I am not confident in JO and KG staying healthy.

I hope we only give O"Neal half the MLE and give the other half to Ryan Gomes

Rondo.....Bradley
Allen.....Allen.....Finley
Pierce.....Gomes
Garnett.....Davis.....Harangody
Perkins.....O'Neal

Not too shabby of a line up.
Ryan Gomes isn't walking through that door, and we're not going anywhere with Avery Bradley backing up Rondo. Oh, and Finley is not a SG at this stage of his career.

His ability to score and more importantly finish (something BBD, Perk, and Wallace couldn't do) could be huge.  Can you imagine what will happen if he can finish the open dunk/lay-up that Perk continually dribbles and misses?

Hopefulyl this doesn’ use up too much $$$.

My heart says i want Shaq, but my brain says that JO is a better fit. He won’t clog lanes for Rondo/Pierce, and he’s very defense oriented.

this is better than i thought the celtics would get for their front line.

jermaine oneill has limitations, but he is the best of the possible players boston could afford to get. i just hope the big 4 call him up and invite him to join the team.

by the playoffs of next year, having j.o. coming off the bench along with big baby means boston has a deep front line.

I'm actually not even sure Ainge would put together a tean with those guys.  That would mean re-signing Ray as well as smaller contracts for Tony and Finley.  I assume O'Neal and Gomes would split the MLE.  But then you still have Sheed's contract that would go unused.  I think it would have to be a little different outcome.

Hmm I really don't know how I feel about us getting JO; but I guess I'll just wait and see how he does as a Celtic.

Way better option than any other big right now. (as long as he stays healthy)

Gotta think that playing along side Garnett and getting the ball by Rondo will only make him better.

Just think if we had him against the Lakers. Gotta believe he would of helped with our lack of rebounds.

+1

....and with O'neal having to start most likely for about half the season, our bench is gonna be really thin, not just a Center, but also SF/SG.  I know we can resign Tony, and possibly sign Gomes, but I'd like for us to try and find more of an offensive spark plug than another complimentary player.

Thing is, JO can shoot.  Way more talent in that dept than B. Miller or Kwame or evne Shaq.  Along with the Ray re-signing, clearly Ainge understood that more offense was necessary.  And JO is no slouch defensively either.

My only conern is that JO has been injury-prone for most of his career.  The flipside is that at 31, he has fewer games under his belt.

I like the fact he(J.O'niel) can actually run down the floor and if we got Shaq we would have to pay a luxury tax on his custom Heely Shoes so he could get down the court!!!!
