Willie Warren and Stanley Robinson were still on the board at 52 and Danny took Luke Harangody? Really? Two players projected to go as high as late first round and Danny took a guy who some thought might not be drafted at all? A fat, undersized white PF?
Ugh...gonna need somebody to explain the reasoning behind both of the Celtics' picks for me. I really just don't get it.
Ditto. I couldn't believe that one, Willie Warren was available at 52, and two, that Danny didn't scoop him up. He was clearly the best player available - regardless of whether he fits or not, you have to take him.
I wouldn't have touched Stanley Robinson with a ten foot pole. I didn't watch alot of Uconn games, but when I did see him, all he did was dunk. He's an athlete - not a basketball player. I know this team needs athleticism and agility, but at the price of brains, I don't think so. We sure don't need another Tony Allen out there.
Well, just because those guys have jobs don't mean they have a clue...
See: Larry Joe Bird
While I do agree on your first point, I don't agree with your second. Yeah, Larry should have taken Blair instead of Hansborough last year, but I think that he hit a grand slam in the draft this year. Paul George and Lance Stephenson - that's a great draft. If we're going to talk about guys who don't have a clue, let's talk about Donny Walsh. In consecutive picks he had the chance to take the two remaining lottery talents available in Willie Warren and hometown hero Lance Stephenson. Lance would have at least brought more people to MSG and Warren could be an allstar as well. Instead, he went with...Andy Rautins and Landry Fields? What's up with that? They really are putting all of their eggs in one basket with this free agency bonzana. Regardless, good for Indiana. The Pacers look like they have a bright future with Stephenson, George, Granger, and Hibbert - in addition to Psycho T. Some think that if Lance played point, he would be a Tyreke Evans type of player. All Larry has to do is keep the guys he has, develop the talent, and let the chips fall where they may. BTW, was it Bird or was it Walsh that drafted Granger - I don't remember?
