I don't understand why everyone's getting so emotional. This guy will more than likely never even sniff a Celtics jersey.

Agreed, but then why waste a pick on him? So he can live the American dream?

I wonder what the Celtics team is thinking right now? KG Rondo PP RAY AND PERK are scratching their heads over this 52nd pick. 6'7 is not going to stop Bynum or Gasol DANNY!!!!

I'll go out on a limb and guarantee that our starters aren't scratching their heads over the 52nd pick in the draft. I'll also state, for the record, that none of them expected Ainge to come up with someone who would stop Bynum or Gasol with that pick.

Really? Yes they were. Especially KG. We need some height muscle not a undersize power forward. We need rebounding right now that IS why we lost the title they are scratching their heads.....KG and Perk especailly.
Do you honestly think KG and Perkins thought we were getting anything with the 52(!) pick of the draft. Unlike some fans, they are not crazy. They know most second round picks amount to nothing. So you wanted them to draft some 7'0" stiff who is not going to help at all? Instead of a guy who might be able to play? Give me a break. If you have size and are available late in the second round, you probably stink or are clearly not ready for the NBA. Just stop.

How about taking the center from Duke Zoubeck?

My thoughts exactly. We picked this guy because he is more likely to produce than a 7-foot stiff who will never be anything in the league, nor stop anyone named Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol.

It's just a second round draft pick people. You can't expect a guy drafted #52 overall to play a huge role in winning us another championship. Best case scenario for anyone at this slot is being on the very outside of the rotation this season.

I joke that he's got the goofy Scal look going.... but he looks physically better in all ways.

Except, he's 2 and 3/4 inches shorter.
NBA players are given 2 inches to their height if they want it in programs. Scal is not really 6'9.
You got that right. Scal actually measures 6'10 in shoes.

I think everyone had a bunch of unrealistic expectations coming into this draft. I think we should be happy with Avery. We got scoring and youth. Two things we desperately needed. Now we have the whole summer to work on size and rebounding.

We'll be okay. Its just the beginning. I expect some huge blockbuster trades in the coming weeks.

I like what I see from this guy.  How about that baby hook.  Looks like a Heinson throwback.

I know that people feel the need to be clever about this, but racial stereotypes are a big no-no on the blog.  That applies just as much to white stereotypes as it does to stereotypes of other races and ethnicities.
