I'd still invite Jaycee Carroll to camp for a closer look. Combo guard, through 3 SL games is at 13.3 pts, 3.7 rbs, 3.0 asts, and that's without his outside shot falling yet while being a crazy good 3 pt. shooter in college. Today so far he's at 17/4/2. Not bad.

Same could be said for Janning. He's been shooting really well and has a bit more size; could be worth a second look. Never know who the next Anthony Morrow will be.

Janning should count his blessings he didn't face the Indiana press--which about did Carroll in.

Jick are you at it again.

Could you imagine hearing 20 years ago, "Well, if Pete Myers could dribble or shoot he'd have shades of Michael Jordan to his game."

I LOL'd.  TP!

Harongody lead the Big East in scoring AND rebounding in each of his last 2 seasons.  This is not the west coast conference or something .. it's the BIG-FREAKING-EAST!

He can play, and what impresses me is his shot ... ugly, but VERY effective.  He'll definitely make this team and help off the bench.  And what will help most is his ability to score.  The C's already have bench players that can play D, so his scoring will really help.

Carroll looked awful bringing be ball up even without press. Janning looked significantly more composed and skilled.

Remember when Leon Powe led the Pac 10 in points in rebounds.  Think him only with skill and 2 good knees.  He'll be able to score and hopefully with their team defense he can play his role.

well Luke Harangody will get his contract with C's, but I would like to see us sign DeSean Simms too.

Carroll is absolutely awful. He gets a bunch of points because as a guard he can have the ball in his hands most of the time against pitiful defenses, but that's fool's gold. But he has no NBA frame, no ballhandling skills, no passing skills, and an erratic jump shot. And he's apparently 27. So thanks, but no thanks.

I'd much rather have Janning, who showed great composure manning the point, and distributed the ball pretty well. Unfortunately, he's off for the Vegas Summer League, so we've likely seen the last of him.
Exactly.

Did everyone who is pushing any guard the Celtics had on that Summer League team see the 4th quarter of today's game? With pressure from Indiana's scrubs in a full court trapping defense, the Celtics guards(Thompson, Green, Carroll, LaFayette) just continually turned the ball over and were absolutely lost out there losing a huge second half lead and the game.

The only player on this Summer League team that deserves to be in camp is Haragody though I guess Erden will be there as well though I wouldn't hold out much hope of him making the team, he looked awful.

Agreed. Janning was the best of the bunch but likely not good enough to make an NBA team. I do think the Cs should also invite Sims and Janning along with Erden and Harongody to camp... no harm there.

I dont see the comparison with Powe. To me they are complete opposites in skill set.

Remember when Powe was healthy for us he was rather explosive.

Harangody is well...not. He does seem like he has a nose for the ball though. I am thinking he is more like a Ryan Gomes, who also put up big rebounding numbers in the Big East. We shall see when he is in there against NBA level talent.

I think people are saying more body of Gomes heart of Powe....that's my take.

Agree that skill wise Powe and Harangody are completely different players....with maybe a touch of crossover in rebounding..

They are totally different.  Leon's bread and butter was posting up and getting fouled, and offensive rebounding.  I see Luke as more of a pick and pop jumpshooter and hustle guy.  You know, what Scalabrine was supposed to be when we signed him to a FIVE YEAR DEAL :(

I am still looking to hear from all those Scalabrine bashers how this deal hurt us in the grand scheme of things.

It didn't hurt us fiscally but it's an absurd contract length and financial commitment completely non commensurate with the talent and production brought to the floor.

And how did you evaluate that?

I like Luke. He's surely gonna make the team and I have a hunch that he'll contribute more than most people think.

If anyone from our summer league team deserves a camp invite, it is him.
