I really hope he can play some 2. If he can't play with Rondo this becomes a bad pick in my mind.

I want him at the 2 also.

He's Doc's small ball wet dream, LOL. If he comes back Doc's bench lineup will be

Nate
Bradley
Pierce
Davis
Harangody

 ;D

I take it you still want Ray to start? If not who do you have at the 2?

Bradley's the 2 in this scenario.

-------------------

According to the front page the Celtics are gonna try and mold him into a point guard.  :-\ That sounds retarded to me. I guess they're not gonna bring Nate back. I'd rather have Nate than Tony, honestly. Nate turned into a pesky defender who wasn't half bad distributing the ball. He also could create his own shot -- something this team desperately needs. Our offense SUCKS.

I meant as a starter lol

With Avery Bradley here I think TA is more important than Nate.

But Bradley basically brings everything TA brings, plus a jumper that I don't count in the box score as a TO.

TA is 1/4 of an inch taller. Same wingspan. Both are lockdown defenders. Both turn the ball over a lot. Bradley should be replacing TA and Nate should stay on as the PG. No converting Bradley into a true point. That's retarded.

Keep in mind TA is about 30 lbs heavier and can guard big 2s and some 3s. Bradley would be effective defending different players.

I don't see Nate returning for multiple reasons; I'd still like Tony backing up the 2/3 spots as needed next year.

Soooo Avery Bradley. More athletic Monta Ellis with a little less finishing ability?

My attempt to make me feel better over this pick.

Monta doesn't play defense.  I think it'd be pretty amazing if Bradley turned out to be a 20+ ppg scorer.

I think shorter-TA-with-a-jumpshot might be the best we can hope for from Bradley.  Still, that description doesn't sound half bad, though it certainly isn't a big need for the C's by any means.
he certainly, though, has the bodytype and the speed of Monta Ellis... that was the first thought that came through my mind when I checked him on some youtube videos... ;)

people comparing him to ellis.  what if the c's took him to move davis/bradley to gs for ellis and their 1st rounder, who happened to be a big body?  i don't believe the $ match up, but just a thought.  we know that golden state is trying to lower the valuefor the new owners.

Looks like a good pick to me.  Guy plays bigger than his size, good vertical, long arms, good D, not a nutjob ... I think that was an example of Danny just picking the best player available at 19.

its funny, before the draft I said that Ainge would likely take the BPA but I hoped it wouldn't end up being a shoot-first point guard or an undersized power forward

well, I'm not sure if he's shoot-first but Bradley is the combo guard I feared and Harongody is def. an undersized PF

oh well - Danny knows better than I do - hope for the best

Agreed, Jeff.  Danny's not the pope, but fingers crossed.

Well, I'm still disappointed by this pick, I understand Danny's mentality of "let's pick the best player available" but I'd rather have seen him pick a player that would fill one of biggest holes (guard, wing, lack of scoring off the bench... hello James Anderson... I'm sure he will have a big impact with the Spurs next year, ugh).

Anyway, Bradley seems like a great prospect/talent so we will see. Welcome to Boston Avery!

Can we infer anything from the pick?  To use a card-game analogy ..Is picking the BPA (kinda the default option) telling us anything about the hand Danny is playing? Does he even know what all of his cards are ???

I'm not so sure about the comparison to Ellis.   I don't Ellis plays much D and this guy is known as the best perimeter defender in the draft.   Ellis is also an elite scorer averaging 25 PPG and I'm not so sure Bradley has that in him.

I mentioned earlier that I hope we keep both Tony and Nate and it will help keep everyone's minutes down.   You can never have enough depth and this kid is only 19.   Not too many 19 year olds are part of a rotation for a contender.   Let him earn his way first.

I see a future with Rondo and Bradley as starters once Ray is gone.  TA will always be a bench player.

My vision is of a back court in the vein of DJ and Gus Williams from Seattle's championship both great defenders, and offensively mixing and combining skills.

Watch the clips of this kid, he wasn't rated # 1 ahead of Wall for nothing.  That is a really sweet jump shot and his dunks are jaw dropping--McDonald's dunk champion!

i admit not knowing bradley or his game.....but after the selection, i heard them say he shoots about 50% from the free throw line.  lets hope he and rondo improve their free throws!

Helloooo Avery!

I don't know much about him, but by now have pretty much read all the scouting reports on him.

No question he is a very good defender.

Some question about his shooting ability.  The naysayers point to his current stats, the supporters point to a strange situation at Texas.  Time will tell.

In any case, welcome aboard.
Celtics fan for life.

He'll be a good player and one that will play a role for us, but it's not what we really needed.  I understand a good big man wasn't available but we need a guard that can shoot off the dribble while Pierce is out of the game...that is the opposite of what Avery does

I'd rather keep Nate for our backup PG

I would think he'd get way more minutes at the 2 guard.

The OP said say goodbye to Nate or Tony...Im saying I'd rather keep Nate.

No way Jose.

Bradley makes Nate expedable.

Tony stays.
