I don't think he's being traded based on the Doc quotes and the twitter comments from people in the know..."celtics draft board was only 2 guys for that spot"

Way too much talk about need and not enough about talent.

I'll trust Danny here.

Atlanta Hawks select: Damion James F Texas

That's a really good pick for them. Borderline great for how late they picked him up in the 1st.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Chris Forsberg's analysis (ESPNBoston):

Quote
The Celtics couldn't have asked for the draft to play out much better and, with their choice among the second tier of shooting guards, the team selected the best player available player in Bradley.

It's a safe selection. If Bradley pans out like many believe, he's the explosive scorer the team covets off the bench. Even if he takes time to develop, Bradley can play the point guard spot and provides a much-needed backup behind Rajon Rondo. What's more, he's a lockdown defender that will immediately ingratiate himself in Boston's defense-first system.

Bradley projected as a lottery pick and an ankle injury might have scared some teams off. The Celtics, who worked him out prior to the draft, swooped him up when he stayed on the board until No. 19.

Keep in mind that Bradley was ranked the top prospect in the country out of the class of 2009. He's still very young at 19, but he was regarded as the best perimeter defender in college basketball. He's going to make an immediate impact on that end of the court.

Still don't get it. We have no center for next year, we need some young legs and we take a PG that apparently can't shoot and will never get time here.
A center is going to have to come via FA or trade.  You won't find anything dependable where the Celtics picked in this draft.  Looks like a BPA pick unless they took him for another team.

Agreed. Don't like the idea of picking bigs just outside the lottery.
I really like Whiteside, he was second on my board behind Bradley.
DKC:  Rockets

Why not Orton or Alabi?

We needed size.  Perk hurt.  KG could be at anytime. Sheed retired.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about with regard to specific players.

Just seems any kind of legit 7'0" with upside goes in the lottery.
