Or the Pacers with Jeff Foster?

Foster seems irrelevant to Indiana with the emergence of Roy Hibbert.  Gotta be concerned with him coming back from a back injury; they say he'll be ready for training camp, but do you want to be relying on him to be your starter on Game 1?

You'd think Indiana would be open to a deal to save a little money, but Larry seems to be the worst in the league at overvaluing his own players.  Not sure he'd be open to a pure salary dump.

Would Cleveland trade Varejao for Wallace's contract if LeBron left?

That would be an incredible acquisition.

Sideshow would be exactly what this team could use next year, but I can't see Danny taking on that contract.  If you assume Pierce gets an extension, there's no chance of cap space for a long, long time.  I'd have to think that if they DID trade for Sideshow, Perk would have to be on the block; you aren't committing those dollars to him AND giving Perk an extension at probably $7M - $8M/per.

Why not?  Varejao is a very effective big signed to a cost-effective contract.  We could do a lot worse than Perk/Varejao for 15 mil combined.

I think Beasley for Sheed would never happen. To me, teams trading non guaranteed/retiring contracts for good players seemed like something all the other teams did and is something the Cs would never benefit from. lulz

I actually love this idea. Varejao has a bad contract for a bad team because he can't contribute a lot to a team that's not good. But he's a guy who is huge for a good team. I'm not convinced that the Celtics roll over the Cavs so easily if Varejao isn't hurt which he obviously was. I would LOVE to get that guy on the Cs.
Go Celtics.

Sheed is great. If he's willing to make the C's a favor, you can bet the Celtics could include 2 million $ to make for his buyout, if the trade is worth it.

two ideas:

- Sheed and Davis to GS / Gadzuric and Anthony Randolph to BOS.
It works on the trade machine, it saves money for GS and solves the backup C problem, adding a good potential player. GS does it for the money, so the C's pay them some cash to buyout Sheed.

- Sheed and Davis to SAC / Jason Thompson and Francisco Garcia to BOS.
It works on the trade machine, makes room for Cousins and Whiteside in SAC, and Baby could be useful for SAC as Landry's backup. If SAC includes Donte Greene, the Celtics could pay Sheed's buyout.

In both cases, it may seem like Celtics are getting too much, but Davis is the best present player, although Thompson or Randolph have a lot more upside. Sacramento or GS would be saving money, and the Celtics will still have the MLE to solve their needs.

with sheed retiring danny has a somewhat valuable expiring contract to shop around. with teams desperate to free up cap space I think he should be able to land a good young player.

we know miami is looking to shed beasly's contract to free up enough room to sign wade, labon AND bosh. as much as i'd hate to help them get there super team together i think beasley would be a great return for sheed.

another option would be to offer his expiring to gs for randolph and turriaf. GS would end up under the cap (where they really want to be) and we would end up with a fill in center in turiaf and a young athletic 4 to understudy behind KG.

third option would be for marc gassol (the tough brother). i think memphis only considers this if they need the funds to resign gay, sheeds contract could go along way to keeping him gay in memphis.

I'm pulling for danny to make a move with rasheed's contract.
I have my fingers crossed for the GS deal though its the most unlikely.
I think i'd rather have m gassol then beasley though beas is a better fit with rondo. mg doesn't seem to mind playing in the no fun league.

Wallace's essentially expiring contract is worth $6.33M, meaning we can trade him for any player between $5M and $8M according to the CBA (125% + $100k).

Here are some guys I like:

Varejao
Ariza
Odom
Beasley
Sessions & Brewer
Millsap
Garcia

Millsap, but there is 0% the Jazz do that trade.  Then I like Ariza, but I highly doubt the Rockets do that.   After that Verajao and out of the other two I posted he is the most realistic.

no way LA trades us Odom, and no way the Jazz throw away Milsap. I would love to get Ariza, but I'm not sure that houston does that either. I hate Verajao, hate him, but he would help a lot, and if lebron leaves, what do the cavs want to keep him for?

Varejo is the name that sticks out to me. i know we hate him. But he can play center, and play it with energy. He would be ideal imo.

You'd think a 1st rounder would be enough. Problem is, who plays Center for that club if they trade him?

Beasley is an x factor, does his game step up then its a steal!  He can give you minutes at both f spots.  After him Varejao, maybe c fans don't like him but he's a guy you'd love on your team.  offensive liability though but would probably thrive in c's defensive scheme
perk might eat him at practice though, for old times sake

Well, that is really the least of their worries.  If LBJ doesn't come back, CLE is in for a heck of a lot of rebuilding, and all rebuilding efforts start with getting rid of big contracts.  Varejao, who has something like 4 years and $32M left (not including a team option in year 5), is the biggest contract they've got.

I'd be happy with that trade.  I think Varejao brings a lot of energy and hustle.  Even though he'd be coming off the bench with Boston, he and Rondo would make a nice fast break pair.

What I'd love even more, and this is just me being greedy, is that Danny convinces Cleveland that the pot needs to be sweetened in order for us to take Varejao, and the only way to do that is to throw in JJ Hickson.
