I think the keys to victory tonight are fairly straightforward:
The starters all have to play at their best.  whoever comes off the bench needs to contribute tangibly.  none of them can have a night off tonight.

Particular items to look for:
* team effort on defensive rebounds.  no Perk means everyone must help.
* active hands and feet on D.  no hands down, no late switchoffs, no late transition D.  stay in front of the perimeter players to cut down on penetration.
* hitting open shots.  this would include the always-wide-open free throws especially.  make the layups, dunks and uncontested jumpers.
* ball movement to find the open man on O.  no hero play.
* get the ball upcourt and get into the offense quickly.  no waiting until the shotclock is on 1 to throw up a desperation heave from 3 pt land.

If the team performs these basics well, we are in very good shape regardless of what the Lakers do.  fail at any of them, we have an uphill battle to stay in the game nevermind win it.

Lakers will not come just to play but to win.  C's absolutely must do the same.

I am off to bed for (hopefully) 3.5 hours of sleep but would like to leave you with a very cool story to pass the time until Game 7 tips off:

I'm starting the chant now.

Let's go Celtics! clap, clap, clap-clap-clap!
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

I don't often pray for things (I've been blessed enough, for sure), but I do pray that tonight the Celtics abound in the virtues of teamwork, unselfishness, and hard work.

And if their shots drop, so much the better.  Without Perk manning the middle I suspect we will need to score a lot more points tonight.

I've only had two bad things happen today.  I'm trying to find a third before the game starts.  May I just say that I hope YOUR day improves dramatically.

Just spent the last three hours making flat-pack furniture to distract myself .. didn't work!!

Hope Doc's got his adjustments right from Game 6.  Big performance from Sheed needed too ...

Good luck everybody!

Lets go Celtics!!!

Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Game seven, away, against a team that just whooped us and took out our starting center.  I still believe though.

GO CELTICS!!!  UBUNTU!!!!!

When the Celtics win....everyone in this thread gets a TP and every post I read for a week gets a TP.

Yes even the stupid and bad ones and even the trolls from Laker land that come to say bad things. Even they will get a TP if I read their post.
