I think the keys to victory tonight are fairly straightforward:
The starters all have to play at their best. whoever comes off the bench needs to contribute tangibly. none of them can have a night off tonight.
Particular items to look for:
* team effort on defensive rebounds. no Perk means everyone must help.
* active hands and feet on D. no hands down, no late switchoffs, no late transition D. stay in front of the perimeter players to cut down on penetration.
* hitting open shots. this would include the always-wide-open free throws especially. make the layups, dunks and uncontested jumpers.
* ball movement to find the open man on O. no hero play.
* get the ball upcourt and get into the offense quickly. no waiting until the shotclock is on 1 to throw up a desperation heave from 3 pt land.
If the team performs these basics well, we are in very good shape regardless of what the Lakers do. fail at any of them, we have an uphill battle to stay in the game nevermind win it.
Lakers will not come just to play but to win. C's absolutely must do the same.
