"He who believes in nobody knows that he himself is not to be trusted." -Red

Believe in each other, share the ball, pound them on D, attack the hoop fearlessly. One game, folks. No guts, no glory. Doom or destiny. A place in the history book. Plain old Celtic Pride. "Let me hear it!"

For the last time this season, a well deserved Game Thread Tommy Point for FLCeltsFan. Thank you.

No matter what happens in this game, I want to thank the Celtics and I want to thank all of you for making this a great community. We can surely be proud of this team. Let's go out and get it.

GO CELTICS!

Well, this year has sure been one helluva ride. Never has a team made its fans feel so bipolar like the 2010 Boston Celtics. There have been too many ups and downs this season for my health, but I still believe the guys can overcome adversity and win this! I know they have gone through too much to just give up right now, so I'm not giving up on them.

Lets go Celtics!! Win title 18 on the 18th! (at least where I live ;D)

Every instinct I have for this sport tells me tonight is going to be a classic that may come down to the last possession.  There are legacies at stake and a potential last hurrah type of circumstance for a lot of top level players -- probably a few Hall of Famers.

That caliber player generally rises to the occasion when it's a game of this magnitude.

If the zebra's are up the challenge we could have one for the ages....or not if they decide to get whistle happy.

I just don't know if I can handle a one possession game either way!  A tight battle would be something to behold though.

I'd enjoy it a lot more if the Celtics weren't involved!    ;)

Pierce is going for 25+ I feel it in my bones!!! Celtics get the win!!!

Yup. Pierce will be in beast mode tonight. Rebounding. Driving. Shooting.

Pierce is the key to the game.  If he plays like a CAPTAIN we win.  If he plays like a HERO we lose.  Two years ago he could be both, but this time around he needs to focus on winning, first and foremost, and what he can realistically do to make this happen.  He doesn't have to actually score a lot of points, just well-timed baskets when we need them.

The battle of the boards has determined all the winners so far.  So Pierce must focus first on rebounding, especially since Perk is out.  He is an excellent rebounder when he wants to be. Here's what I would like to see from him:
10 rebounds
5 assists
zero turnovers
zero iso's

If Ray is going to play 40 minutes, he needs to give us 20 points minimum, and 5 assists would be nice, too.  (It would show he was taking it to the hoop, not just firing away from outside.)

KG has to keep Gasol away from the basket.  Give him the outside shot (he doesn't shoot 3-pointers, anyway), but he's a terror on the offensive glass.  We cannot give up second chance points.  We must own the defensive board, which is the key to turning Rondo loose in transition.  Rondo in transition is our biggest advantage on offense.  No one (including Kobe) can stop him in transition.

In Game 6, Pierce was the one Celtic who most showed that he could lift and carry us in Game 7. I agree that he needs a double-digit rebounding night tonight.

What we need is for us to be mid way through the 3rd quarter, and be able to say "wow, he's played well tonight" or "hey, he's really been a positive force tonight" about whoever's on the floor for the Celts.  Top to bottom team effort.

That said, we're probably at our best if Pierce is our leading scorer since he'll likely be doing it from inside, outside, and teh charity stripe.
Yup

If Pierce shoots double-digit freethrows tonight, we win.
