Hollinger is a chode but he's correct on this one.  If Sheed can stay on the floor, he's much more suited for those minutes than Perkins was going to be.

I concur.  I've thought about the net effect his playing time brings.  He clearly brings a net loss to the offense, but a net positive to the defense.

I'm not quite sure how much that net positive changes with Bynum out though.  I agree that he is a necessity in order to guard Bynum and Pau at the same time and not as necessary to guard Pau and Odom.  BUT, when Perk and KG do guard Pau and Odom, they have the ability to shut those 2 players down much better than KG + Baby.  How much better?  Hard for me to quantify that, I wish I had the stats to do so.  When it's KG and Sheed though, I like that.  I really hope to see a lot of that frontcourt tomorrow.  Its just 1 more game!!  Come on fellas!  KG - 40 min, Sheed - 35 min, Baby - 21 min.  It's a stretch, but pleeeaaaassse just one game!!

  • Thank you Eddie!
A broken clock is right twice a day.  If Hollinger is a broken clock, then the Celtics will win the NBA title tomorrow.

Perk is the now THE anchor of the best defense in the NBA and Doc and Thibs need to figure out a way to replace him in one day. It's a big, big loss.

Hollinger was the clown trying the hardest to to hype Kobe as an MVP candidate if the Cs won in 6 despite Kobe shooting 40%. He's consistently been making excuses for the Lakers, Magic, and Cavs throughout the playoffs and picking against Boston  consistently and stupidly in some instances. Cavs in 5? Magic in 5 after the Cs had taken out LJ? "There's simply no plausible reason to bet against them."

Russell is his 6th best center of all time. An IDIOT and I've forgotten more about statistics than this ftard knows too.

I'm not a Hollinger fan, but it's hard to argue with his points on Perk's skills and how they work out in matchups in this series.

I've long thought his importance and value have been grossly overstated by many here on CB.  Great defender?  Only in the low post-not high post, not pick/roll or pick/pop.  He's pretty anemic offensively, unless left wide open within 5 ft of the hoop, and only a top defender in specific [low post] situations, but gets abused in others.   Yet, some would make him a franchise cornerstone, and predict certain and immediate doom without him.  I don't get it.

I agree on all points but what worries me are Sheed's minutes.  Will he be able to stay in the game as long as we need him to without getting into foul trouble?

I fear the worst.

Danny Ainge on Rasheed, earlier today on The Big Show:

Quote
Yeah, we need him. It's a different role, playing a starters role and playing the role he's been playing off the bench for us in the playoffs is completely different," said Ainge. "We need a different Rasheed. Big Baby's minutes will be extended a little bit. They can't use the fouls and there is one less six-foul guy that we don't have. Obviously Shelden [Williams] and [Brian] Scalabrine will have to ready to go out there and play and contribute in some way if we do get into foul trouble.

One only needs look at Game 6 to understand Perk's importance to this team.  Without him clogging up the middle, guys like Shannon Brown has a huge dunk.  I really don't understand why anyone would think this isn't a major loss.

Hollinger is a turd who has been consistently wrong.

He's been wrong about the C's - because they are an ahistorical outlier in terms of "flipping the switch", and in fact wrong about LAL for similar reasons (of a lesser magnitude.) He's been right about a lot too. The ad hominums against Hollinger for his analysis is really unwarranted.
