So winning two national titles means he is a loser?

Not to keep harping on this, but NCAA Championships matter? The qualification for winners/losers in the NBA is mind bogglingly inconsistent. What has Hill won in the NBA?
My respect

This thread makes no sense - a class act who went through literally years of brutal rehab despite the fact that he got paid either way, who decides to keep his family stable by staying in a city he loves, deserves to be ridiculed because he isn't wearing our preferred shade of laundry this year?

And oh yeah, a 2-time college champion who threw the best inbounds pass in NCAA history, and played his heart out at 37 in a conference finals against a much more talented team is "a born loser".  Ugh.  This just sounds mean-spirited and petty.  I hope no one ever holds the OP's accomplishments to the standards he applies to Hill.

This.

I wish we had a *shakes head* emoticon on this board.

I'd use it.

A lot.

Also, of course, we can't really say that Hill made the wrong decision yet, can we?  The Celts made it farther than Phoenix, but they haven't won anything other than the Eastern Conference at this point.

Seconded. The Celtics still haven't won a ring. People need to remember that.

This thread is ridiculous.  Hill chose to be loyal and do what's best for his health and family and you are telling him to eat it.

The OP sure got some grudge against Grant...the guy is a class act and will continue to earn my respect. Stop this non-sense since Roy is correct, we have not done anything yet at this point but win the East.

You should have come to Boston. At least you would have had a shot at a ring. You are not a winner, you're the guy that's just happy to have a chance. I used to feel kind of bad for you because you're  a nice guy that had great talent, but could never get on the right team.

I've waited all year for this.

Thats a bit harsh, yes he should have come to the Celtics, but he would have got paid the same in PHX as in Boston, so its tough to justify relocating to earn the same.

Also the PHX medical staff revived his career, so i'm sure that he feels very comfortable with them.

Grant is a great guy, and he has suffered enough with injuries etc

Truly earning the "angryguy" name.

I like Hill a lot. Man he would have been a much better pickup than Daniels.

And that's why I said he has a chance for a title not automatically win one.

I made this thread not because I have any  hate towards Hill, but because I used to feel bad for the guy and have determined that winning in his career is not as important to him  as it should be.  Then we hear " he has my respect" and "he's a family man", yes because a career in the NBA allows for a lot of time with the family. Who cares, I'm not talking about his personal life. I'm talking about his drive as a player and if he deserves sympathy for not winning a championship.

After he retires, you all can play the violin for him because he joins the list of players that should have a ring but doesn't. But I won't, he had his chance.

One of most ridicoulus threads i ever saw...
Grant Hill is among my favorite non-Celtics players, great player with great passion for game (look at what kind of injuries he endures)...
I know James Posey has been key memeber of 2008 championchips squad, but:
Eat it James Posey is much better thread.
Grant Hill turned down Celtics because of loyality and family
James Posey turned down Celtics because of extra year of contract...and now hes going nowhere in NO...

Since I am not allowed to give Duke any credit, I would argue that this pass is better.  (The actual shot is at the 2 minute mark of the video)

On one hand, I blame him because while Phoenix made a great run, I think anyone who knows basketball well knows that a team built like that likely will never win a title (see the Suns of the past 5 years and the Dallas Mavericks).

On the other hand, how "proud" of himself would he really be playing 15-20 mpg off the bench on the way to #18?  It's one thing when you're a perennial role player like P.J. Brown to do it.  However, when you're a guy like Grant Hill, I'm not sure a title means as much unless you're a big part of it.  So in that regard, I don't blame him for trying on a team where he started and played big minutes.

What?
You sound like the kid in high school who didn't have a prom date.  Grant Hill epitomizes class!
