And he stayed with a team he enjoyed playing with. 




I don't see why there is a problem with his choice.  It just didn't work out to a title this season.

Hill decided that he valued his family's comfort, a larger role, and a training staff that works well with him over money or a title.  It might not be the decision many of us would have made, but can we really fault a guy for prioritizing his family and his comfort level?

I'm siding with Roy and wd on this one. Seems kind of wrong to fault a man for choosing what he believed was the correct choice him him, his career, his family and his comfort over the chance for a title.

I don't see the problem here. Hill is, by all indications, one of the truly nicest and classiest individuals in the NBA. I think it kind of, well what I would say would probably start a spat so I won't say it but I just think it beneath us as Celtic fans.

I know we made it to the Finals w/o him, but he would have been a nice addition to the team.

And he picked a team that went to the Western Conference title over the Knicks.  And do you really think there was a chance he was going to the Knicks or was it a way to help negotiations? 



Yes, he didn't pick the Celtics.  (you know the team many experts were saying had their window closed during the offseason)  He decided to stay with a two time MVP.

HI'll is not a career looser. He won 2x (almost 3x) in college. He also singlehandedly turned the Detroit teams if the mid 90s into contenders for 2 years. I know it's conjecturen, but sans injury I bet he has at least 1 ring. Plus as everyone else stated he stayed loyal to his team and made a tough decision for the good of his family. It's not like he tool the big money the Knicks were offering him, or even used that and us to squeeze more money out of Phoenix.

I don't understand this thread at all. I could understand it if he went to the Knicks or some other bottom feeder for a few more dollars. But come on now, some people need to realize that there are other places a person can go to win other than Boston. He got to game 6 of the WCF. He was on a really good team. And was a starter on that really good team.

When I saw the title of this thread I was expecting to see he made some snide remark about the Celtics or something. But telling him to "eat it" cause he chose to stay in Phoenix? Again, I'm baffled by this thread.

This thread makes no sense - a class act who went through literally years of brutal rehab despite the fact that he got paid either way, who decides to keep his family stable by staying in a city he loves, deserves to be ridiculed because he isn't wearing our preferred shade of laundry this year?

And oh yeah, a 2-time college champion who threw the best inbounds pass in NCAA history, and played his heart out at 37 in a conference finals against a much more talented team is "a born loser".  Ugh.  This just sounds mean-spirited and petty.  I hope no one ever holds the OP's accomplishments to the standards he applies to Hill.

Not to keep harping on this, but NCAA Championships matter? The qualification for winners/losers in the NBA is mind bogglingly inconsistent. What has Hill won in the NBA?

Also, of course, we can't really say that Hill made the wrong decision yet, can we?  The Celts made it farther than Phoenix, but they haven't won anything other than the Eastern Conference at this point.
