I didn't get to see a replay of the initial foul, of Villa going down, but in real time it looked like he went down very easily. That Villa was looking for it.
Yes, that shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place. Villa sold it and the ref was looking to give back.

If Spain plays like that vs Germany, they have no chance. Spain have so much talent at their disposal, but can't show it here like in euro 08. Partly because of Torres form and partly because Del Bosque tactics.

Yep, the player that was offside, didn't touch the ball.

The game marked Miroslav Klose's 100th international appearance and his two-goal tally took him to within a goal of Ronaldo's World Cup record haul of 15 goals.

Klose, 32, scored only three goals for Bayern Munich last season, but was devastating in the box on Saturday and equalled Germany's record-goalscorer Gerd Mueller's 14-goal World Cup haul.

"I do have 14 goals now like Gerd Mueller but Mueller played at only two World Cups and this is already my third," said Klose. "That's why the comparison is unfair.

Nice response from Klose. Humble.

Quote
The striker has scored 52 goals in 100 internationals and coach Loew described Klose's achievements as "historic".

"Someone who has a rate of scoring, more than every two games, that speaks for the player," said Loew.

"He has excellent qualities. I never had any doubts in him. He is always up to the task. There are not many players with such a ratio of goals and games, one or two, and that's historic." [quote/]

That's what great about Klose - he's very humble and down to earth. I hope he will break the record.

Me too ;D
He started his career for my favorite club, so it´s incredibly satisfying to see him perform at this level. His talent was obvious from day 1, but he´s just so humble and didn´t pass the dubious "nose test" with the german public, so he never had any hype. I can only imagine how rewarding it has to be for him.

I always have to chuckle when people say he doesn´t perform at the club level, or can only score with his head. Klose has always been a top 10 striker in the Bundesliga, even in his Rookie season, and was #1 for a span of 4 years, in my opinion. In 2005/06, for example, he had 25 goals and 14 assists in 26 games, and seemed to be on his way to break Gerd Müller´s fairy-tale record of 40 goals in a single season until an injury took him out. Not to mention how hard he works on the defensive end and in closing down his opponent.
Anyway, all his goals are meaningless if we don´t win against Spain, who are still the favorites for this match.

Good for us that Klose knows this, too.  ;)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I love the colours of these two teams.

The orange of Holland, the blue of Uruguay and the green of the pitch. Beautiful.

A lot of swerve on that shot from Forlan.

Difficult one for the keeper but you'd still expect him to save that shot. Too close to the body + in the middle of the goal.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Forlan has had such an amazing tournament, if he can take his team into the final without Suarez he has really done something amazing.

Dreadful pass by Boulahrouz. Almost gave away another sloppy goal.

Great play by Van Persie to hold up the ball and bring Van der Vaart into play. Created a good goal scoring chance.

Unlucky for Holland. That was a terrific chance, especially the follow shot.

Yeah ... not going to get many better chances than that ... sweet set-up there.

Not sure about that goal. Looked like he was offside.

The assistant referees have made some dodgy decisions today.
