Wahoo! Germany 2 Argentina 0

Excellent pass to put Podolski through. Very nice side ball for the tap in for Klose too.

It's pretty much over now. I don't see how Argentina can score two

Great pass from Muller to Padolski. This guy is not 21 yet but so far is the best player in the WC. He'll be very much missed in the semi fianl, probably against Spain.

Oh my goodness, what a run by Schweinsteiger. Incredible mazy dribble and setup.

Absolutely awful defense by Argentina though.

4-0 Germany have demolished Argentina.

The Argentinians have fallen apart since conceding that second goal.

So that`s 14 goals for Klose. He needs two goals to become the first scorer in the history of WC. Till now Fontaine was first with 15 goals.

Argentina always on the back foot after conceding the early goal.

Excellent performance from all the Germans in closing down Messi and
denying him space and time, but all the attacking Argentinians seemed
to always want to dribble past one more player, and too often ignored
the opportunity to pass to a team mate.

I would say the German performance was just like watching Watford, but it's nearly time for my medication. ::)

Ronaldo - 15
Gerd Muller - 14
Fontaine - 13

Germany is very good.  I still think Spain's ridiculous passing will win it all, though.

* Argentina has better individual players, but Germany is a much better team. I'm very impressed with the way they are playing so far.
* The best 3 players in the world (arguably) already out - Messi, Ronaldo and Kaka. All showed very little.
* Right now it seems there will be 3 european teams in the semis (unless Paraguay can make a huge surprise), and probably this is gonna be the first time ever when european team wins WC that's not taken place in europe.

Odd refereeing decisions here.

I don't think he should have ruled off Spain's penalty kick. Looked clean.

Two penalty saves during the course of few minutes. I don't think there was a foul on Villa. And Paraguay scored a perfectly good goal in the first half, that was disallowed.

Few players entered the penalty area before Alonso's shot. But there was a foul on Cesk after the save.

Excellent recovery by Casillas to save that second effort from Santa Cruz a few moments.

On the replay I saw, the players had barely entered the box by the time Alonso hit the shot. It seemed a little nit-picky to me to call it for a player being slightly over the line. Also, in contrast, on Paraguay's penalty kick several Spanish players where inside the box, some by a couple of feet.

Yeah, Fabregas' one was definitely another penalty. Keeper got lucky there.

I didn't get to see a replay of the initial foul, of Villa going down, but in real time it looked like he went down very easily. That Villa was looking for it.
