You can take solace in the fact that your pop-music is way better than ours.

Ok, that makes up for today's result  ;D

pbak63 - I've TP'd you for being gracious and honest in defeat. Couldn't disagree with any of what you said.

I will say this about the game: Germany deserved to win. Yes, Lampard scored a legitimate goal, but you always play to the whistle. Over the course of 90 minutes, England were lucky to lose 4-1.

You can take solace in the fact that your pop-music is way better than ours.

I'm not English. And hey, Germany won the Eurovision, so I'm not even sure if that's true ;D

Ahh, I´m sorry for that, you´re irish. Hehe, we´re on a roll, but truth is that song was written by two americans.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

That should be an epic game. Worthy of a final.

BTW that would be Germany's 15 quarter final in a row. A very impressive achievement.

Tough exits for England and Mexico today. Their odds of winning were low to begin with but blown calls just made already painful losses worse.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

TP, my thoughts also. For me, that's the difference between the "Big 4" (Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Italy) and the rest. They usually have the better team, the  better luck and the better calls. Yet Italy was so "turrible" this year that neither luck nor calls would have helped them.

Yesterday Germany was the better team and they also got the key call. They'd probably have won anyway, because they are the team playing the best football. As for Argentina, they got the key-call that destroyed Mexican hopes. Argentina is not playing great, but they have the best forwards (Higuaín,Messi,Tevez,Milito), and they have power scorers in the midfield, like Maxi.

I feel sorry for the mexicans, they always play in a beautiful style, treat the ball well, like to attack... they came short, they couldn't compete with such a weak defense. It's a mental thing more than lack of talent, but Osorio's mistake after offside goal just killed them.

And for the english team, it's a shame that Capello hasn't found the way to build a team. Midfield was built more to please the media, you can't have Lampard and Gerrard in the middle. Why didn't Capello bring that guy from Tottenham, Huddlestone? Well, hopefully for the English next time will be better.

I'd rather have the Celtics win #18, than Spain winning the WC  ;D

Ah, Robben started. I read that he was going to be on the bench for another.

I would have picked the Dutch to win 3-0 if I knew he was starting. Robben takes their attacking play to another level. They need his dribbling and creativity to balance out the other weapons.

In one hand, we've got Argentina and Germany, on the other hand, now we've got Brazil vs Netherlands.  Two great matches with powerteams.  These games could easily be the finals.  Brazil played extremely well today.  At first Chile had control, but once Brazil started playing their game, the rest was history.  I like the passing and the hustle they are showing.  Brazil just has so much ball control and the cuts were great.

I don't like Dunga's playbook, he puts too much muscle in the middle, and doesn't treat the ball well. But Maicon, and surprisingly, Bastos are great, they stretch the field and get to the line, opening lots of space for Robinho and Kaka. And 'O Fabuloso' is playing really well.

I like Brasil's chances more than Argentina's. They also will play a skilled but softer Netherlands team, and Germany can be the first serious and tough team for the albiceleste.

It could happen that three south american teams reach semis, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, I'm sorry for Ghana but I don't see them beating Forlan and friends. Germany and Portugal/Spain seem to be the European teams with some chances.

Good luck against the Dutch and congrats para a torcida da canarinha!

Yes! Penalty shoot out. Hope Jabulani drama doesn't ruin this.
