There is a funny story about the 1950 game

At an english newspaper when they received the fax (or telegram or whatever was it) with the score they thought it was a missprint and that the score of the game was 10-1 instead of 0-1 !

Govou needs to go away for France. Malouda or Henry should be starting for France. Govou did nothing all game.
I don't know how Govou is still in that France. It doesn't feel like he's ever made a positive contribution to that national team. Always a bit part player who didn't have the talent/mentality to succeed at this level.

I think South Korea are dark horses, they could go quite far.

Serbia are the dark horse IMO.  That Vidic led defense is impeccable.

Can't wait for USA-England.  USA USA USA!  ;D

They are definitely showing their ability in this match. Greece is falling to bits (alot like their economy).

The Greek's defense has been pretty disappointing.

A large step down from where they were a few years ago.

Yakuba's power and strength is causing Argentina some problems. Their defenders are struggling when trying to tackle him.

Not wild about Argentina. They have some beautiful footballers and will play irresistible stuff at times but I'm not convinced they have enough of a backbone to their team (through the middle of the park = center backs + center midfields + central strikers).

I haven't seen much of Argentina though so I'm looking forward to getting a better look at them during the group phase.

Gutierez is not a real right defender and Nigerians are trying to exploit this. So far they`ve done prety good job but their finishing is poor. The 19 guy should have scored once

I don't understand why Maradona so in love with Gutierrez. He's playing in almost every game for him while I'm sure with other coach he would be a sub at best.

That`s not the only controversial decision by Diego !

Enyeama has denied Messi 3 goals with superb saves

Why is Javier Zanetti not in the squad? He'd perfect player to plug that hole.

I didn't realize he wasn't in the squad until now. I knew Maradona left Cambiasso out which is a strange decision but leaving Zanetti out is downright baffling.

Because when Maradona picks a squad he chooses players that he gets along with instead of the best team available. Lucho Gonzales should also be in that team.
