CelticsHooligan:

What about the Christmas Day Game? Game in San Antonio? Game in Toronto when Sheed Torched Bosh for like 29pts and 7 or 8 boards in KG's absence?

Yes TA had a lot to do with the Christmas Day game, but we would be 47-35 without Sheeds' "Effort" in those three games.

There are probably quite a few more games that he has helped us win, too.

You don't see anything positive in Sheed?

Like moiso said there is no stat for effort. As for the Tony comparison that's not fair. Tony worked his tail off to even see time on the floor. Sheed had his given to him. People rightfully question Tonys head & mental capabilities/decision making. (which is spot on although I'm a Tony supporter) Sheeds head isn't questioned his effort is. That's opposite of Tony. Correct me if wrong on this but I also am under the impression Sheed is making more money than Tony. And doing less to earn it. Last I checked Tony won sixth man of the year award for the C's not Sheed.

A guy who openly admits to taking it easy during the regular season to save energy & effort for the playoffs ( which we have yet to see mind you ) just rubs me the wrong way. It's one of the reasons so many people are turned off by the modern NBA. Can't say I blame them although I love it. I can see their point on guys like this.

Here's the real question tho. How many of you can openly go up to your boss & tell him. "Hey I'm gonna take it easy the first part of the quarter so I can try harder towards the end. Or I'm gonna take it easy this morning so I can really turn it on after lunch." I know I don't go to work at a place like that. Quite frankly I wouldn't want to. Maybe you guys do tho. I'd stand corrected if you did work in a place like that.

Rasheed is old guys. In NBA years he is practically a dinosaur. He is 35 years old logging 41424 total minutes in his career. Its a miracle he didnt get injured this season. He just doenst have the hops or the footspeed to keep pace with guys like Noah and Varejoe anymore.

He is what he is. If anything it makes you wonder what Ainge was thinking with his signing when KG also has 44717 total minutes. We are not fast, athletic, or young at the big posistions. I hate to say it but when we match up vs Cleveland our big guys are gonna get demolished.

Cleveland's bigs are just as old as ours; Shaq and Z, I mean. Yes, Varajeo is young, but we can put BBD on him. Besides, whatever else Sheed can't or won't do these days, playing post D is not one of them. Which he's proved when he's had too. (I worry a bit more about him guarding on the perimeter against guys like Z, when he seems to get easily lost.)

Greenfaith quite frankly no their aren't "quite a few more games he helped us win". To the contrary he probably helped us lose a few more. That's not the real point though.

Maybe to you three positive games equal the full MLE. I'm horrendous at math but I can do addition & subtraction. And to me that view doesn't add up. I want more than three good games for a player of Sheeds calibre & skill set. Not to mention money.

But don't you have to run or jump to get hurt?  He plays every game like it's a practice walk through.

Shaq and Z may be old. What about Hickson,Powe and Varejoe?
BBD is too small to play Varejoe and KG/Wallace/Perkins dont have the footspeed to stay with him which is why he always goes off when we play the Cavs. Throw Jamison in there and they are six deep with big guys.

He spent 7 years in Detroit doing the same thing. Ainge and co knew what they were getting. Like someone else mentioned the money would have been better spent on Matt Barnes.

I like Barnes too.  High energy with an attitude that he directs at opposing players.

Matt Barnes isn't worth what we'd have had to overpay for him to come here.

Going into the season with just BBD/Shelden on the bench wouldn't be a good idea either

I would buy that if Rasheed was trying out there.  However, how many times this season have we watched him let balls roll out of bounds, or allow somebody else to grab a rebound because he didn't feel like going after it?  How many times have we seen him settle for lazy threes early in the shot clock?

It's not just age.  A lot of it is attitude, and I think that's what rubs fans the wrong way.

Plus Daniels seemed like a better option at the time.  I think Barnes is more of a 3 than a 4.  I do like him though.

Many on here would argue that TA was given time on the floor IN SPITE of his production a lot of the previous years, rather than he worked his tail off to get it.

You seem to list the same games over and over again. It's nice and all but it's a VERY small portion of the season. What about all the other games he stunk to high heaven? He had more bad then good over the year. What has he done in the playoffs? If he brings it in the 2nd round I'll be the first to say I was wrong.
Peace through Tyranny

Yea totally agree. In the past he could coast because he is so skilled. Now laziness combined with age and a questionable attitude has made him a lightning rod for criticism.

People need to realize though that even when he does put full effort out there that age and declining skills have limited his effectivness.
