On Friday, I will be assigning teams and e-mailing a file of every available player to be drafted that will be in an excel spreadsheet format. If all owners could PM me a desired e-mail address to send this file to you if one is not listed in your member info, I would greatly appreciate it.

nick, what dates are you looking at for this thing / what dates are you expecting the panel to need to weigh in?

I ask because I'm going to be in South Africa from May 5 - 11, and I don't want to screw things up for you.  If those dates coincide with the judging, please take my name out of consideration.

Roy, the draft begins on the 10th of May and panelists can have input from that day on regarding trades, picks, team building, etc. The panelists decision making regarding team awards won't be starting until the week of May 24th.

So you are okay. Besides, the panelist jobs will be the least demanding of the draft and won't be needed every day.

Beautiful.  I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be impacting a lot of GMs if I missed some of the action.  I'll be ready to contribute on the 11th or 12th, so I'll keep my slot.

I'm thinking it's going to be tough judging the various teams, because they're all going to be super-stacked, I think.  It will be fun, though.

What I think will be fun for the panelists will be in trying to see what year the owner will eventually pick from the player involved. For instance, ultimately someone is going to pick Karl Malone. He won the MVP and had a great year in 1996-97 but an argument could be made he had a better year in 1989-90. Do you choose Kobe with Shaq or MVP Kobe? Early Duncan or late Duncan? Do you chose a pl;ayer for that one unbelievable year or do you chose a player with a bunch of great years to chose from? Judging that I think is going to be very fun!!

might I suggest random.com for picking the draft order.

also, as was mentioned earlier in the thread, whatifsports.com is great for this kind of thing.

players can only be picked once right?
and then once you have the player you get to pick which year you want to submit?

also, what is the first available year 1990? and the last is what 2009?

clarification would be appreciated

Exactly correct except for the last year you get to pick of the player drafted. That year is the 2009-10 season, this year. You also do not need to choose which year until the draft is concluded.

interesting concept.  You guys are going to kill each other debating a winner.

I like the chances of any team that builds around Prime Jordan or Prime Shaq.   But eventually, for example, you get into a huge debate about whether Prime Hakeem could tear up Prime Shaq since Prime Hakeem tore up pre-prime Shaq... I don't know... sounds dangerous.

Are you guys taking into consideration what league it will be?  What rules?  That kinda impacts things.  Early 90s teams got away with stuff that doesn't fly today... Shaq mutilated people in his hayday.  There was an entire year when the three point line was moved to make Jordan more invincible... stuff matters.

I'm going to try to hold debate amongst owners to a minimum, a friendly banter at best and allow the panelists to do the debating and critiquing. If debate gets too heavy all awards will end and possibly the game. This is for fun with the possibility of reward at the end. This is not strictly a competitive game.
