Looking at this thread and the member that started it, it leads to one question,

Which fruit will help Davis more, Apples or Oranges?
The answer is pineapple.

or bacon

I think Davis has already discovered the wonders of Bacon.

Big Bacon Davis

Ever have bacon-wrapped pineapple? Bacon and pineapple pizza? It's a good combo.

  But I digress.

I read this post and see it's the same posters who always have something negative to say about BBD. He doesn't deserve it. He is usually our top bench scorer and top team offensive rebounder. I'm grateful we have him.
Nothing fruitless about his play. It seems he's just being scapegoated. I have been dissappointed in KG, who is getting blocked and not scoring and turning over the ball; in Perk who has completely changed from the end of last season/begin of this season to 'ineffective' lately. I still appreciate them both but hope they can figure out what can improve the situation. Ray Allen, who so many here wanted to trade, has proved to be exceptionally amazing and it would have been a really dumb move for Doc to trade him. Rhondo is fantastic. Nate is proving to be tremendous.
I am just tired of the scapegoating of BBD. Our team is lucky to have him.

See, I don't see where I was being negative about Big Baby.  I was complimentary about his hustle, and wished that others worked as hard as he does.  My only wish is that he would figure out a way to make more positive impact with the energy he is expending.

I am not blaming him for any Celtics' losses, but it's hard not to have it sound like I'm singling a guy out in a thread when he is the topic of the thread.

The point of this thread and the point alot of responses was trying to make is that he gets alot of offensive rebounds and he doesn't capitalize on them. He gets his shot blocked under the rim instead of kicking it back out to start the offense again.

No scapegoating. No blaming BBD for anything. Just pointing out a flaw in his game. His offensive rebounding is trmendous and we should be cashing in on it far more often.

Do you agree that he has this flaw?

While I understand frustration some of us have over Baby's lack of productivity, no one can deny his great hustle every minute he is on the court. That is contagious.  It pays off in the form of other players emulating him. And it will eventually pay off for him. He seems the only guy on this team (other than Shelden, who doesn't play) who will get an offensive rebound. This team's greatest deficiency is it's "one and done" attitude on the offensive end. I would love to find out where we rank in offensive rebounds in the league. Would not be shocked if we were in the bottom 4 or 5.

Dead last.

Cleveland is 3rd to last though so go figure.

Actually, Utah, Dallas, Orlando, Cleveland, Boston...all in the bottom 1/3.

Orlando is surprising with Dwight on the team.

Big Baby gets a lot of offensive rebounds, then gets soundly criticized for what he does with the ball after he gets it.
So, should he not get those rebounds?

Absolutely! He should keep getting the ball.  Even if he shoots 10% on the putbacks (not saying he does), it's 10% more scoring than we would have if he got zero offensive boards.

Points off offensive boards can be really deflating to the opponent.  I know I sure hate it when the Celts let up points on the other end on 2nd and 3rd opportunities.  Conversely, it can be a boost to the team making multiple stops if a team fails to convert on extra chances.

Again, I want Baby to keep up the work on the offensive glass, I just wish he could be more efficient with the extra possession.
Yup

It's also worth noting that, unless the numbers have changed recently, we're best in the league at transition defense. That comes from getting back on defense instead od going after offensive boards.

It's frustrating when a player with the ability of Davis has such a glaring flaw in his game, especially when it's one that should be so easy to fix.

Frankly, Big Baby's agent should be pointing this problem out to him because every time his shot gets effortlessly blocked in the lane, his value as a player goes down in the eyes of GM around the league.
