Reposting for the new page:

In the mid-90s, this player was perhaps the most hyped high school player of all time (to that point).  Featured in a Sports Illustrated article at just 16 years old, this player became entangled in a web of college commitments, decommitments, challenged SAT scores, and assorted shenanigans before finally attending an SEC school for a single season at the age of 21.  Though he played several years overseas, he never took part in a single NBA game.  Who is he?

Generalissimo Francisco Franco

TP for closeness, but not quite.  A hint:  His last name is a type of fabric.

The correct answer to this one was Schea Cotton.  Here's a link to that infamous SI article on him as well.  Put it this way - he was the same age as Kobe and was considered the better player for much of high school.

In a career that spanned 15 seasons this combo guard has experienced everything the NBA has to offer. Possibly the most important thing he ever did however is lose a court case against the Boston Celtics which forced him to forgo a secondary commitment he had made to play overseas.

This former BC Eagle was a top 15 pick in the early 80's and in his career was involved in trades for Darryl Dawkins, Bill Laimbeer, and Zan Tabak. His career ended in the early 90's and he had a memorable playoff game for the Green.
