If Cleveland get Amare, the Cavs are winning the Championship.

in a past thread i said the same thing and they will win back to back to back rings
Portland look like the only team capable of knocking them off in future seasons if that goes through.

without a doubt

Are you serious?

Amare doesn't guarantee a championship to the Cavs. He improves their chances, but that's it.

giving up an overrated scrub like hickson for an all star makes them the easy favorite

This is just my opinion, but Stoudemire to Cavs doesn't scare me. Yes the man is a talented scorer, but to me he isn't a Stopper.

I think you would have essentially have a similar situation like PHX had when Shaq and Stat were together....for whatever reasons that didn't work, either.

I'd still take a hungry, consistent Celtics Team over a CLE team with Stoudemire...any day.

Oh and Congrats to our Captain for his Three-Point contest win!!

Cleveland with Shaq, Stoudemire, and Z (if he is bought out and returns), will beat the Celtics in 5 games max and will likey be the NBA champions.

Getting an All-Star is definitely a big improvement but there are big concerns regarding Amare, starting with his putrid defense, the fact that he can be a headcase at times if he doesn't get enough shots, the fact that he thrilled with a great playmaker in a great system for him (run & gun), the fact that he shouldn't be as comfortable in a slow, halfcourt offense and that he didn't fair well along Shaq in Phoenix.

The Cavs would still be a bunch of roleplayers with the second best player in the game + an All-Star. An improvement, of course, and a big one if Amares clicks well with them, but it definitely doesn't make them the favorites or ensure them the title this season.

I don't know, vinnie. Even if this trade goes through, I'm waiting until we meet them in the playoffs before I count our Celtics out.

Yes - on paper, this potential trade makes them look great, but...paper is thin.

Is there any player in the league right now more overrated than Amare Stoudemire?

How can a freakishly athletic big man with his supposed skill set playing with a great surrounding cast have done so little as far as winning over the course of his career?

He has a pretty solid winning % for his career and was an absolute monster when they were contenders. I think they would've won the Finals in 05-06 if he was healthy for that season. And a Robert Horry 3/suspensions for leaving the bench ruined the chances of another year. To be honest, a few plays change here and there and Amare gets a heckuva lot more respect around the league. I try not to fall into the traps of media rehashed arguments and try to be objective when looking at players.

Since then, the Suns have been killed by the frugality of ownership that doesn't allow them to add the proper role players/depth.

I think Celtics fan's have a tough time seeing that after we watched Scalabrine outplay him after he declared he was going to get his "gorrila game" going....

I agree that with Amar'e the Cavs will be heavy favorites to win it all.

I'd agree they'd be favorites.

Still, I'm failing to see how Williams/Parker/LeBron/Stoudemire/Shaq = guaranteed title when Nash/Richardson/Hill/Stoudemire/Shaq = no playoffs last year.

Maybe. Is he a good fit for them? His defense isn't that great and he isn't at his best either playing in a half court game or playing with Shaq. Not every trade meshes and some don't mesh the first year (or half year).

Amare and Varejao will be a terrific big man combination.

too bad for the cavs, they should have gone after Jamison instead, he would have been a much better fit for them.
