If that happens, that is bad news.

However, before we get carried away in any doom and gloom scenarios, let me also say that if Amare Stoudemire was even half the player that his stats would suggest he is, Phoenix would not be perennially missing the playoffs/getting knocked out in the first round.

For the amount of minutes he plays/time he spends around the basket/shots the Suns put up, he's a horrendous rebounder.  Calling him a matador on defense is an understatement.  Moreover, Shaq + Amare + a very good surrounding cast in Phoenix including two-time MVP Steve Nash couldn't even make the playoffs last year.  I'm not sure why Shaq, Amare, and LeBron is all that much scarier.

Because LeBron is 50x better than Steve Nash...LOL!

Perk/Ray/Scal/1st for Amare/JRich: PHX gets a better young player than Hickson and we take back the contract they want to get rid of.

Ownership would have to pay up the wazoo for this, but Cleveland rolls through the east if this goes down, and I'm an ultra homer.

Maybe.  But let's not discount Nash the two time league MVP.  We're not talking about just some ordinary point guard.

Let's also not discount that Shaq is now even older.

And most of all let's not discount the effect Nash's passing has had on Amare's game.  Look at the huge drops in numbers (and general respect around the league) in someone like Shawn Marion who benefited immensely from the open looks and fast paced game that Nash provided.

Don't discount what the slow down, LeBron dominated offense in Cleveland might do to Amare.  LeBron benefits from great shooters around him that open up the lane for him to penetrate.  Having Shaq and Amare down low isn't going to help that.  It's not coincidence that Cleveland's best +/- lineup doesn't have Shaq and does have Big Z in it.

This trade would, of course, improve Cleveland, but definitely not put them over the top in my opinion.

Stoudemire has always played with Steve Nash and didn't play very well in a slow, halfcourt offense under Porter, not to mention he didn't coexist with Shaq. Why would it work this time?

Sure, LeBron would make his life easier but still, I think we will see that Amare has been overrated his entire career thanks to Nash - a la Shawn Marion.

Also, Phoenix would be stupid to give Stoudemire for this package... they are supposed to want talent and not only salary dump but Hickson is not a talent worth giving up Stoudemire for. He benefits from playing with LeBron and will never be an All-Star.

Steve Kerr must be Danny Ferry's best friend or something because Phoenix would once again offer the Cavs a big player for nothing... disgusting.

If they are going after Amare, then we need to make a very serious offer for Antawn Jamison. The guy can flat out score, and is a very good rebounder too. Something we could most definitely use help with. If the best we come back with is DJ Augustine, I'll be extrememly disappointed in Danny, and the Celtics brass on the whole.

is it me or does it seem like teams (mainly phoenix) just give away their players to cleveland?
It is you.

Shaq was available to anyone who was interested. They needed to unload him.

If we're taking on JRich's contract that should be enough to get Stoudemire.  Considering he could opt out too and ruin future plans it would be a big risk, Perk or not.  Giving away Perk AND taking on Richardson's contract would be giving up too much for a guy who could walk in the summer.

we had to give up big al, ryan gomes, delonte, a 1st rounder, szerbiak, who was a major trading chip, and jeff green to get Allen and Garnett.
All clevleland had to give up for shaq and amare was basically jj hickson and a draft pick. disgusting.

We simply can't stand pat. Without any doubt, we know that they will beat us in a 7-game series if they get Amare. That is if we even get that far. I've had enough of this "wait and see" attitude, and management doesn't need to pretend that everything is OK right now and it will eventually get better. Ainge knows it himself, yet he denies it. Anyway, he needs to get to work in the coming 4 days, because we're slated for a East Semis dropout as it stands right now.

I think we also gave up Theo Ratliff, another major trading chip?  :)

I don't understand phoenix because for the longest time it's been about someone taking on J Rich's massive contract to get Stoudemire. We would take on J Rich to get Stoudemire. I love Ray Allen and have been the biggest "dont trade ray" fan, but i would trade him for stoudemire.

On a side note A healthy KG can dominate Stoudemire if he goes to cavs, but that is when we really need a good wing defender like Posey or Battier to help take out Lebron :(

We dont have trading chips that anybody else might want. Our best trading chip is Scal, since we seem to involve him in every proposed trade posted here. If he is the best we got; no wonder nothing is happening. ;D
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine
