To be fair to Perk, if he has position, good things happen. He has a 63 or so TS% and shoots .625 from the field. He does turn it over too much, and he NEEDS to pass out if he gets the ball 12+ feet from the basket. Not sure how many of his turnovers are due to the screens though.

Anyway, this is a team problem. They certainly are under utilizing an efficient weapon. Here's what they should do:

-Go to Perk more when he has very good position
-Go to Perk less when he's further out
-On a related note, coach the idea of a post-repost. Go to Perk when he has bad position. One back to the basket dribble in. Pass back to whomever got him the ball. Back his guy down to get better position. Re-entry pass to Perk in the better position.

THey need to do more of the in-out-in again so Perk knows he'll get the ball if he passes out of a bad position but works to get a better one.

Perk wants more shots? Well I want to be 6'6" and Mr. Halle Berry.

Perk getting more shots solves nothing.

Perk has definitely worked hard on his game over the years, and has gotten around to working on his offense.  He is so much better with the ball than  he was two years ago, much better than last year even.

But I've noticed they're going inside to him as the first option much more often this year.  Since he's usually on the floor with the starters, I don't see how that's a good thing.  A couple of post-ups per half to keep him involved, but that should be about it.  I'd prefer to see his touches on s/r plays with Ray, where he gets the ball for an uncontested dunk/layup.

Perk as a first option means we're in deep s***.

The scene is Doc's office...

Doc: "Man, we're mired in this losing streak...any suggestions?"

Ed Lacerte: "Well, I'm working on these guys with therapy, so if we're patient we can get healthier later in the season."

Doc: "Good to hear...really is.  Anyone have any ideas regarding what we can do until then?"

Coach Thibs: "What if we tried to get Perk the ball more and get him more shots?"

The entire room: UNCONTROLLABLE LAUGHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doc: "Yeah, Tom.  That's about as good as an idea as your substitution patterns when I get thrown out of games...  More shots for Perk..."

MORE LAUGHTER... :D ;D

I've been a big proponent of this team getting back to an inside out approach, but I don't think that involves Perk in the post.  What I advocate is getting the ball in to KG or Sheed, or having Rondo drive the lane, and then working the ball around as opportunities arise.

If I recall correctly, I swear KG had issues last year (or the year before) with Ray.  Apparently Ray was so stuck in his routine and way that he wasn't being very flexible.

I don't know, it's all just rumors at this point.  They need another trip to Rome to sit down and iron out their egos and gameplan.

Very funny especially Tibs never substituting after Doc was thrown out. I remember thinking to myself .. oh this is why he never gets a Head Coaching position.  Now it all makes perfect sense.

Actually, the answer probably wouldn't be "That's about as good as an idea as your substitution patterns when I get thrown out of games", it would be "That's about as ridiculous as running the offense through Rondo instead of Paul and Ray".

It's not 2008 anymore. Perk should get some more touches for no other reason than he'll learn from the experience and will be better when the playoffs roll around.

Two years ago Perk was taking about 3 close to the rim shots a game and hitting 68% of them. Now he's taking 4.2 a game and hitting 77% of them. He's actually got the highest percentage in the league among regular players.

I'm not saying pound the ball into Perk all the time. But in 07-08, Perk and Rondo took about 30% of the team's inside shots. Now it's like 42%. We're taking the same amount of inside shots but we've gone from 16th in fg% from the inside in '08 to 2nd this yeat. Don't go inside every time, but increasing his touches little by little will help in the long run.

The problem with wanting Perk to get touches so we can move to an inside outside offense is the fact that Perk can't pass.  We'd be getting and inside inside offense.  It just won't work.

No, Perk should be happy with the touches he gets.  While his shooting percentage is high, it is because he shoots mostly layups and dunks.  I generally cringe anytime he get the ball more than three feet away from the basket.

Perk needs to know his role.

Perk needs to know his role.

exactly!  offensive rebounds, setting picks, complaining to the refs, working on his scowl...you know, important things like this.

Where does that link say Ray is a problem in the locker room?  He and Rondo had a discussion about selfishness issues; that's all we know.  We don't even know if they were pointing fingers in that conversation at themselves, at each other, at other teammates, or just in general.

They said the talk between Ray and Rondo was after the Detroit game right?

Like someone said its speculation that its Perk they were talking about, but I don't really buy it.  I think it has more to do with Sheed than anyone. The guy is taking around five 3 point shots a game and isn't exactly lighting it up, though pretty much everyone realizes that.   Again this is just me speculating, but I don't think Perkins is the problem. And if he is he's far from the only one.

He's perfected two of those, two need work.

I'll leave it to people to speculate...

I'd rather see Rondo jack up 3's than see Perk get more touches. Seriously, who does this guy think he is? He has become a black hole on offense. He refuses to pass the ball out of the post. And whenever there is any defense on him, he travels or throws the ball away.
