Perk shoots 60 percent. If he took all the shots the team would shoot 60 percent. He should shoot all the shots.
He shoots about 45% on individual postups, so I'd disagree.
Link?
I hope everyone knows I was kidding but that statement was about as credible as this article which is **** poor reporting and speculation with no facts.
But, yeah do you have a link? That is an interesting stat.
Jumping in here, the closest thing that I'd see to a link would be from 82games.com (
http://www.82games.com/0910/09BOS15.HTM ). But it doesn't separate out post moves, so I'd have to speculate based on their breakdown.
Jump: 31% of his shots, 37.7% EFG, 55% of the makes are assisted
Close: 55% of his shots, 70.1% EFG, 68% are assisted
Dunk: 12% of his shots, 95.1% EFG, 90% of them are assisted
Tips: 1% of his shots, 50% EFG
Overall: 62.7% EFG, 69% of them are assisted
My understanding is that "close" means layups and/or shots right at the rim that aren't dunks or tips. I'd therefore consider "jump" to encompass the majority of Perk's post moves that end in jump hooks or turnarounds. These are the least assisted shots in Perk's repertoire, so they probably encompass most of his post moves. Especially since I rarely if remember Perk just taking spot-up 15 footers, it would seem to me that most of these "jumpers" are foul-line and in and many come off of his post moves.
"Close" would encompass the post moves that end in a layup, dishes from teammates that lead to layups, and rebounds that he doesn't tip. Almost 70% of these shots are assisted, though, so not so many off post moves. But this is where he shoots the majority of his shots, so even with the 70% figure it could still be almost as many post moves as found in "jumpers". Hard to tell.
A few of his post moves end in dunks, but considering that 95% of those shots are assisted I think we can safely excluse this from the calculation.
No way I could come up with a number as specific as 45%, but considering that he shoots 38% from the area with the fewest assists I don't think that estimate is too far-fetched.
