3 team trade with the Cavs and Grizzlies

Boston
Trades - KG, Sheed
Receives - Big Z, JJ Hickson, Thabeet, J. Williams (filler)

Cleveland
Trades - Big Z, Hickson, J. Williams
Receives - KG

Memphis
Trades - Thabeet
Receives - Sheed

Boston cuts a lot of salary from future years and gets younger with Thabeet and Hickson.

Cleveland gets a superb defensive PF that compliments both Shaq and Lebron.  Puts the Cavs as the clear favorite this year and with both big guys coming back may get Lebron to re-up for at least a couple more years to see what they can do together.

Memphis gets a solid veteran to help anchor their team inside and Sheed is a nice compliment for Randolph.  It puts Memphis in a much better position to at least win one playoff series this year as Thabeet isn't a go to guy by any stetch of the imagination.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

if Pierce is done for the year... then there is no way he's opting out of his contract.  Would a guy with a career threatening injury pass up on his last big paycheck?  Nope...

trading KG for expirings wouldn't make a difference, because we are still forced to pay a broken Pierce next year.

edit:  N/m.  I guess i see what you are trying to say.  We'd have 44 million committed if we completely removed Ray and KG from the books next year.   That gives us a nice 9-10 mil to sign a free agent.  Is Bosh or Wade gonna take 9 mil a year from Boston?

Paul done for the year? Who said Paul was done for the year?!?Trade KG? What in the name of heaven is going on at CelticsBlog?!? Are people getting some catastrophic inside information that I am missing? I mean, I've seen plenty of gloom-and-doom threads here before at times when the team has been struggling, but this is some extremely strong Kool-Aid that's being consumed now, and the results are going off the deep end. Please, people, I implore you ... take a deep breath and consider what the results would be of ripping the heart and soul out of Ubuntu, this franchise, and one of the top teams in the NBA, and tossing it away for the sake of mid-season panic restructuring. The trade threads here are nearing the point of hysteria, and we've got to understand just how blessed we are to have the team we do now, and that most other teams in the NBA would LOVE to trade win/loss records with us. I love what you contribute here, RondoH, but I've got to take exception to this one in a big way. Wow.
not sure if you read the whole thread, but of course my prefernce would be to have our whole team together are go for #18. They were saying on weei that if it is a stress fracture PP has then he is done for the year.

This is a hypothetical thread, but could be a real situation if it is indeed a stress fracture.

If PP is done for the year do you really think we have a chance at 18? I don't......

And if we don't have a chance at a title then why wouldn't you trade KG if it meant you could add a max free agent this off season?

i would get on the phone with clevland and offer garnett for big z and delonte.

There is absolutely no way I would gift wrap a championship to LeCrab!

Because we want to get as little back as possible?
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

the idea is to clear cap space. If we did this trade and then were able to move bbd and sheed for expirings are roster could look like this next year.

PG: Rondo
SG: West
SF: PP
PF: Amare or Bosh
 C: Perk

That's a pretty [dang] good start to the rebuilding process. Again we only do this if we know PP is done for the year.

KG is my fav player of all time, and honestly I couldn't trade him for Kobe and Lebron(unless it was on 2k10)..okay maybe I would but realistically NOBODY is dumb enough to trade us ANYTHING(ESPECIALLY EXPIRINGS) for 3 years of damaged goods
Can't stop, Rondo!

most of his salry for this year would be paid by the C's and he only has 2 years after that. I think cleveland( a city that hasn't won anything in 50 years in any sport) would be willing to trade expirings for KG if it could help them geta championship(which would convince Lebron to stay as well)

Or mark cuban who will spend as much as he has to to bring a championship to Dallas.

If you're someone who thinks they can win it without Ray being what he was in '08, why blow it up if Pierce is out the whole year.  If anything, next year may be an even better opportunity to win it all as Rondo and Perk should be even better and KG should likely be even more removed from his injury.

and KG + PP will be a year older

Lts face it , this was the C's last shot at a title with this group. If PP is done for the year you have to blow it up

That's ridiculous.  We're talking about 1 year, not 5.  It's not like 1 year is going to necessarily do anything to their production.

Plus, Pierce will be 33 next year and Garnett 34.  That's hardly a guarantee of demise.

I wouldn't trade KG, but I'd try like heck to convince Cuban that 'Sheed would give them a better shot at a title than Gooden, and take his expiring contract (with min. filler, prob. Tim Thomas), just to end the Rasheed experiment, and if they threw in a pick, I'd be thrilled.
