  • The good ole days.
If the Celtics wanted to give Garnett away in a salary dump ...

They could send him to San Antonio for Richard Jefferson and parts. That Spurs team wins the title this season.

Depending on the "parts".... that's not a huge dump is it?  (hee hee, huge dump)

KG is only making $2.4mil over RJ this year and $3.8 more next season.  (edit - nm... KG has one more season at $21mil).

Why would dallas be helping us out by taking on KG's massive contract when they clearly aren't close in the western conference?

I think they are pretty close. Add a relatively healthy KG next to Marion and Dirk thats a very good front court

Add a relatively  healthy KG to a celtics front court of KP, Wallace and Pierce and you can win a championship.

Why would they help us out like this again?

They are going to trade us useful expiring contracts for our expiring to fix our bench why?

If they want to make such a move, why not just take the jamision deal thats on the table (reportedly) and leave us stuck?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
KG is pretty much untradeable.

why would they care if it got them a championship. KG would be a perfect complement to Shaq. Shaq inside, KG outside. KG would also help their pick and roll Defense.

I keep forgetting that KG is down to $16 million this season.

Dirk and Garnett can both play the center position at an extremely high level.

Also, both of them are allergic to going to the post. How would dallas function with both of them on the floor?
Dirk goes to the elbow. Garnett goes to the opposite baseline or low post area.

There isn't a spacing problem.

Not to mention - even if we used it to fix our bench, our starting lineup would be toast without Garnett. Remember the entire premise of this is that Pierce is done for the year. Without Pierce and/or Garnett, this team is not a legitimate title contender regardless of if we add the ridiculously volatile Delonte West to our bench 2 of every 3 games. Without both Pierce and Garnett (the trade premise), we're not a threat to Cleveland at all. And don't forget, our ability to get cap space is hamstrung by the Wallace signing so it's not likely we're gonna suddenly go after Lebron or Bosh or Wade, and why would they jump over here anyway?
Go Celtics.

If you're someone who thinks they can win it without Ray being what he was in '08, why blow it up if Pierce is out the whole year.  If anything, next year may be an even better opportunity to win it all as Rondo and Perk should be even better and KG should likely be even more removed from his injury.

and KG + PP will be a year older

Lts face it , this was the C's last shot at a title with this group. If PP is done for the year you have to blow it up

I can't believe this topic: are you really hoping Garnett can win with another team?

I have no words...
